Have you bleached shoes like this before? Does the bleach break down the suede and make the shoes wear out faster?

We used to do this in the 90's. whoever was distributing Vans only got a few colours of Half Cabs so we would buy the all black ones, bleach them and have tan and black. The suede was compromised but not so much that you wouldn't do it again.
