Parking block slappy's
« on: August 23, 2013, 04:28:47 PM »
The Parks department brought a curb down to the skatepark today.  The shape is exactly like this, same size.

Its painted white, with this really sticky paint that doesn't really slide.  We waxed it up and did some boardslides on it, but I kept trying slappy's frontside and backside but had no luck.  The curb is probably 5 or 6 inches tall.  Any pointers for slappying something like this?  I feel like its too tall to get a good grind on

Also, do you recommend scraping that sticky paint off and using rub brick/lacquer?

Slappies: go almost straight at it with a moderate amount of speed (you should go faster as you get more comfortable with slappies), carve hard and unweight your feet as you smash into the curb (front truck guides the back onto the curb), focus on getting on top of it like skating a ramp, grind as far as you can, come off with some speed left, give a stranger a high five.

Good luck.
