hey old farts, how was summer??

I think I skated one hour total, not counting the times I mess around with my kids when they're scootering/biking
(none of the 2 has picked up skating yet, but I havent given up hope....)

I spent quite a lot of time in the water in July....so fun.

Freediving Fabregas

anyways I think I'd skate more if I had minibowls like NL posted around    :P

yeah, didn't skate many mini bowls this summer...

turned 41, skated 1 to 3 times a week mostly solo. learnt slappy k grinds and backside power slides, so i'm stoked... hit some new parks here and there. on it goes...

35 years young. I'm having more fun now than I did when I was in my teens. After not being able to skate for almost two years due to back problems, just being able to cruise around and pop a few Ollie's, makes me forget how hectic being a "grown up" can be. Luckily my buddy built all the ramps at a huge, indoor, key holder only park. Most Saturday nights I get to tag along and skate an old opera house with only 7-8 people. As long as I land 2 new tricks (even if it's a crail block on a bank) I'm psyched. With another Chicago winter approaching, I'm going to get a key so I can go as much as possible. It also helps that it's in a college town and there's always a few 20 something year old girls hanging around. Add beers and a little smoking to the mix and the place is fucking paradise.

^Where's that spot Buck? Evanston or something? I went to school near there and liked the area but the never ending winters were brutal.

N.L.: that was sick stuff! Those parks look decent.

I feel like I didn't get out nearly enough this summer. Maybe I'll film something this fall...

so I just had two nice Magenta-inspired solo cruising missions.... Keen to go out again soon before real winter sets in!

G-turns are still fun after all those years. Not quite Scott Oster-like yet.....but I'm starting to feel more comfortable on the board again   ;D

Skated in a light drizzle tonight. My 360 flips been for shit lately so I trick myself & settle for a my dick flip (it has 360 flip in it) then made myself land a horrid fakie one.
I don't think it's age so much as I rode rusty's tensors for a month & it wreaked havoc on my skating

Skated mini ramp last night, getting much more relaxed and confident than I have ever been on transition.

Super stoked to have access to a newly built private warehouse ramp that is basically perfect and my good homie is the owner/keymaster, by the way it's Rene Matthyssen, ex New Deal pro and he's doing great and still rips.

Lots of incredible sessions lately with a good mix of young gun rippers and old wily shredders, it is awesome to still be able to mix it up with cats that I'm old enough to be their dad as well as guys I've been skating with for 20 plus years in the same sesh.

Also I used to kind of shy away from being the old guy but these days I relish in it and love when people see me skate and ask how old I am.
I'm gonna be 47 in 2 months and I've never felt more comfortable on a skateboard in the 30 years I've been doing this.

Whatever you do, DO NOT quit skating.
You may skate less, and you may have other interests and activities or girlfriend/wife/kid stuff going on in your life, most of us do, but under no circumstance should you ever 100 percent quit skateboarding, don't even think about it.

We've all seen those dudes, and they are not happy.
Don't be that dude.

I liked the nose manual too.... Soy, when you say "no bump", you mean bumping the back wheels when you come off? I have trouble with that too...Gonna work on it this afternoon or tomorrow if I can manage to get two hours off from dad duty !

Good stuff guys!

I was filming some junk yesterday and decided to redo a rock and roll that wasn't fully decked. Slipped out, tweaked my knee on a split, and dislocated my fucking elbow. Good times! Herniated a disc in my back earlier this summer doing a scorpion (although that was mainly attributable to my age said the doctor).

Anyway, don't mean to cast a gloom and I did have a good summer of skating. I got plenty of time to edit my super underwhelming footage now.

Legit! Congrats on tying the knot and landing that.

The ledge seems a little soft as in it sinks very slightly in when you land on top of it. I'm gunning for the switch nose manny, but it's been a while since I've made one and that thing is not very wide. We'll see...

props for the properly decked rock man! skating with a family member is awesome, I hope my sons come around before I'm useless.......

So I've been watching these and Tommy G made me feel better about my shrinking bag of tricks when he said he's just given up on tricks. Plus he's into music so I can relate! The contrast between the two is crazy tough........Gonz still gets depressed when he can't land his tricks!
