Cry a little.
Then move onto his G6.
I've got 3 more pairs of the Lows in the box. Love that shoe.
I just got a pair of the G6's. The all brown ones. They feel almost the same as the lows.
I'm not allowing myself to skate them until I finish off my Low stockpile.

some tricks come easier than others. but that one was a battle.
in the beginning I was giving it my best Rob Welsh impression. really trying to nollie out. but I kept landing with only half of my nose on the next ledge. 50 - 70 tries and a couple hours later, I realized the way to make it work was to just haul ass and pretend the gap didn't exist.

Old fart, new part.
Filmed from November 2016 - Sept 2017.
So I got a month of 39 in here. Otherwise all 40 club tricks.
Personal highlights:
Without a doubt; more lines than I've ever had in a part. I'm pretty sure I've filmed whole parts of single tricks.
First kickflip varial I've filmed this century. Those are still legal, right?

Sick! Couple of familiar North County spots in there - rad to see something up the rail off the ledge on Mission. Your name is really familiar to me... longtime SD loc? (I'm not from there, just spent a lot of time visiting over the years)

First skate of 2018 yesterday, late I know but been busy with work and our twins just turned two and just doing kid shit all the fucking time ANYWAY, brand new deck and wheels and I was skating in my not all the time skate shoes and was still able to manage to kickflip on flat first try and it was actually a decent one. Also I just turned 48 last month I have to be the oldest dude that posts here or in the top 2 or 3 maybe?

Just recently relocated to LA from the East coast. Growing up, always wanted to be here, ironically, being here now(42. 43 soon) the overload of skateboarders and skatepark culture is a bit too much and a huge turn off too me. The cliche saying that it's basically baseball here is so true, doesn't feel special one bit.  I can sort of see myself quitting out here  :-\

How do you skate thunders without getting pitched to death on every landing that isn't 100% perfect? I tried, I've never been more beat down in my life from just ollies.

On my last trip to CA (Bay Area) I thought the same thing. I mean, I liked all the parks and stuff but had I grown up there I wonder if I'd have been turned off skating and listening to punk.

I lived in the Bay also, five years back, for a couple years and it didn't feel half as bland, cheesy and cookie cutter as down here. Though, I'm sure a lot has changed in 5 years, including the Bay. I could at least enjoy the 'island' or the dmv when I was up there.

I'm 45.  I started skating in 88 to catch the tail end of the fat boards with no nose and continued through '92 where I was skating 40mm wheels and doing lots of stupid flippy things like pop shove late kick flips and triple kickflips.  Lots of mini ramp skating with a spine, and zero vert or concrete bowl.

I then took most of the next 20 years off, skating maybe 10 times total.  I picked it up again in the fall of '14 and it's pretty hit or miss.  I'll have a month or two where I get out 2-3 times a week, then I won't be able to skate for a couple months.  I have two young kids, my own company, my wife has her own business, and I do other sports as well.

Since starting up again I probably skate mostly mini, some bowl, some street park and recently an Evergreen built 'lunar landscape' weird ass thing.  I've avoided most of my old flip tricks, save the occasional kickflip or impossible.

Yesterday I woke up with a headache, but the snow was coming in the afternoon so I hit the street park. I dropped in and the first run I could tell I was on.  50/50s were locked in and long, transfers were on and ollies were high.  I decided that it was a good day to work on kickflips.

I learned kickflips in '89 or so and I did them all wrong.  I did them as an ollie, then a hard down push to flip. There was no catch, and even though I could time them well on flat I wouldn't take them down stairs often.  I could do double flips regularly and triples every now and then.  I decided that this year I was going to learn them the correct way.  Yesterday was the day. It took 15-20 minutes, but I started getting it and by the end I was landing them about 50% of the time.  I came really close to getting a double, and closest I have come to landing one up the euro gap.

I think my new goal is a tre flip.  I don't know if I ever really tried them back in the early 90s.  I figure 45 is a good time to start them.

We also had a guy recently build a vert ramp in town.  12' high, 24' wide.  I am busy enough that I can't often make the sessions, but I did do my first drop in and I would like to spend a bit more time on that this year.

Never knew there were so many old guys lurking at Slap...

45 years old. Started skating at nine on a plastic banana board. Lost all the loose ball bearings, clueless kid, didn't know how to fix it, f'n quit for a minute. Got back into it in 1988, never made that quitting mistake again. Started skating street, went to mini ramps, tried vert, sucked at it, back to mini ramps. Nowadays I run a website called Everything Skateboarding (www.everythingskateboarding.com), and ride a lot of different skateboards. Still street skate a little, but spend most of my time in concrete bowls and ditches, since Arizona has so many of them. Kinda lucky like that. Fun times.

And yes, I still suck. So no need to point it out, I'm already well aware of it. Thanks.

Just turned 33.  Skated from 10-18, put it away for a few years while I was in college, picked it up again at 23 and been pushing ever since.  The years I wasn't skating were the worst.  My life is so much better when I can roll.  I have 3 parks really close to where I live so I spend the majority of my time in there.  Mainly on the mini ramp, ledges, and little stairs.  That stuff is just fun for me.  BUT I decided that this is the year I am going to learn to skate the bowl...it's at a Grindline designed park and the bowl is deep and I am pretty nervous about it.  Bowl skating looks like so much fucking fun...I can't go any longer without it.

Much love old dudes.  Keep rolling.

43 and just started back skating about 5 months ago after a 25 year BMX adventure. I stand by the notion that tre flips are easier than kick flips.
