Attempting to film a 40+ part barely skating once a week half of the year appears it's going to be a daunting task . I guess a trick per session goal is the way to go about it :o

Set Up: 8.0
             spitfire F4 101
             indy 149
             bronson

Favorite skaters:
Music:  90s hip hop, indie, punkrock
Married: relationship for 10 years not married
Kids: not yet
Occupation: English/sports teacher

I have never looked in this thread before, but wanted to share a little story. I skate maybe once - twice a week, most of the time skateparks. Last Saturday I was hucking some stairs (well 5 stairs is hucking for me anyways) for the first time in years. I tried to bs flip the set. After ollieing I realized the impact is super low so I wasnt really scared. But it still took me around 50 tries until finally my board snapped. Without really slamming any of the tries, I cant believe how sore I was on Sunday. I do quite a lot of other sports (swimming, running, climbing, sometimes even surfing) so I´m used to physical activity. I was really surprised but needless to say I ll be back next weekend  :D

Age - 41
Set up   Ride 8.25” boards – whatever I can get my hands off for cheap. Currently riding a Studio board (peep their new vid Lately - https:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUb4AJuM3b8  )
Wheels – 52’s – another set I bought for cheap – I think their Paradise Wheels – Andrew Mcgraw – quite a few yrs old…
Swiss bearings (first pair I’ve ever owned, had ‘em for maybe 6+ yrs now I think – wish I would have bought a pair years ago…)
Indys- 144 I think (flush with an 8.25) 6+ years too (maybe more)
Preferred terrain – Street , ledges, that type of stuff…
Fav Skaters : I don’t follow the new stuff as much as I should, but enjoy watching the older guys skate. Chico’s insta clips get me hyped.
Music – 90’s hip hop, classic rock, whatever I guess.
Married for 7 yrs in November
Kids - 2 boys – 2 (in Nov) and 4
Started skating – In the neighborhood – butt boarding - Skating for 30+ years (marty mcfly really got me into it)
Occupation - Work in an office setting - desk job

Actually bought the bearing and trucks off Dave from 35th via mail order.  He gave me a nice deal. I used to frequent this board allot more before and then backed off for a bit…

Fav skate spot would be ledges. We have this legal skate plaza at home and I skate it as much as possible. Lots of interesting characters too, and there’s a convenience /beer store across the street. Kid you not!

That’s my story
Never really stopped skating, definitely slowed down in certain periods of my life and really got back into it this summer. We had a great summer weather wise (was hot as hell) but not too much rain to through off my scheduled sessions (they’re almost  set in stone - Tuesday and Friday nights). Past couple of years with the arrival of my kids, moved and bought a house, few DIY renovations that took and entire summer (basement gut and god know what else), my schedule finally freed up a bit for more consistent skating. Thank god for muscle memory, but my confidence definitely took a hit so allot of hesitating when I skate up to the ledges but I’m getting over that.

Usually go out and skate alone, and will run into other peps at the spots. Tell ya though, lotta times Id be alone at the spot and it was great. Blank slate. No one cutting in front of you or younger kids one upping whatever tricks im trying. Glad to say that my skating felt allot better at the end of the summer vs the beginning. Getting a little self-conscious with my skating as I age.

I’ve used my wifes Iphone tripod a few times to get a few clips (yea I’m that guy, but use it when I’m alone at the park). I’ll try to piece a few together and throw them up sometime.

I’m wondering if me getting back into skating full tilt at 41 is my mid life crisis – I really can’t afford a sportscar. But I’ve had a blast this summer.

Shoes though, went through 2 pairs. Hard to find a decent cup sole padded shoe. Cant do vulcanized. Loved the old Prods, but ordered the 10(or 11) and they’re kinda like Janoskis so I sent them back (too flimsy for me). Been skating the SB Team classic, and its been treating me pretty well. Im a size 13 and have a hard time finding a good fit. Found some of those New Balances on sale, but 13 was too tight. Mail order to Canada is brutal, so I cant get my hands on those es slim accell (shipping and duty double up the price) so Im on my 2nd pair of SB’s. Soles are supper sticky but seem to wear down fast and the suede is ok. Bought some shoe goo today and will try to patch up my ollie hole. At least I haven’t tre flipped through my big toe yet. I swear haven shoe goo’ed for like 15-20 yrs. No joke.

Love the thread. Keep it up.

34, but that’s really not that old these days.
Deffinetly older than most guys i skate with though.
Not married but we’ve got a kid.
Skate like once or twice a week, started out like that because I physically couldn’t (broke both my legs in my 20’s), nowadays that’s just the system.
Any more than that I can’t really get hyped and just end up having a boring/bad session.
Mostly skate ledges and flatground, with a little bit of tranny mixed in there.
Standard skatepark shit.
Still feel like there’s room for progression, even though most of the tricks are just re-learned from 10+ years ago.
Would love to be able to film one more video part...

Age: 44

Set Up: 8.25 Anti Hero
             53mm Spitfire F4 Classics 99a
             144/8.25” Forged Indys
             Bones Swiss 6
             Jessup

Preferred Terrain: I was pure street skater (I hate parks, except DIYs) my entire life, but “discovered” transition about a year and half ago. Been skating mostly mini ramps recently. That said, my favorites are curbs, small ledges, DIYs, barriers, banks, and tranny. I despise “perfect” skate parks—has to have some crust factor or I won’t go near it.

Favorite skaters: BA.KU., J. Stranger, Natas, Tommy G., Chris Miller, Jerry Gurney, Matt Hensley, Lance, B.A., Danny Way, Burnquist, Frank Gerwer, Tom Knox, Dressen, Ethan Fowler, Mike V., Dune, Chris Pfanner, GT, pretty much all the Anti-Hero guys.

Music: Punk, post-punk, metal, darkwave, big band/swing, old hip-hop, soul/funk.

Married: No. Got out of 7.5-year-long relationship awhile ago.

Kids: Hell, no! I can’t even keep plants alive.

Occupation: I was a lawyer, but I quit practicing law. Now I am a security manager at a large bar / night club.

Here are two pics of me from within the last month. First handrail in over 20 years, and a great bail shot at a local bowl. At my age, I consider it a blessing that I can skate at all. I am grateful for every session that I have, and I'm having more fun skating in my 40s than I ever did when I was younger.

Nice handrail pic! Your a brave sole. Handrails and gaps are something I dont even bother with at my ripe age of 41. Crusty spots always seem better.

Set up: 8.2 Buzzbomb skateboards Mullen deck (Pennswood)
Ace 33’s
Spitfire hard chargers 54mm 80 soft

Favorite skaters: Kien “Donger” Lieu, Daewon Song, Rodney Mullen, Kyle Nicholson is one of my modern favorites

Music: Froggy fresh

Married: Yep

Occupation: Brazilian jiujitsu teacher

Story: started skating in 1989 in New jersey. Mosty neighborhood suburbs style skating (make ledges out of old desks from the trash, flip bike racks to make flat bars), skated Trenton a lot and the fountain in Princeton a lot until mid 90’s when I started going to Philly and NYC a lot. Moved to Philly in ‘97 and skated City hall a lot and the other normal spots at the time. Love every once in a while, but not a ton. Slowed down in 2002 and didn’t skate much (maybe once a month or every other month) until 2016 when I started skating a lot again. Still in Philly but mostly skate around the city looking for interesting spots. Go to Municipal, Paines and Pops a pretty fair amount.

Separated my AC joint (shoulder) on Saturday. Was skating a 4' mini ramp. Did a b/s indy nose pick. Was leaning a bit too far forward on reentry. Held on across the flat, but then full-on shoulder checked the tranny/wall on the other side. I know AC separations are graded on severity. I'm going for follow-up on Wed, but I am almost 100% certain it's not a Stage III (total separation), thank god. Anyone else ever done this? How long till you were rolling again?

You survived the handrail but tore out your shoulder on a mini ramp?? Sorry to hear that!

I have no advice on the matter just commiserations.

I knew I was due a slam and had a bad one of Friday. Trying to nose manual in and out of a bowl. Weight was all off on re entry and smashed into a concrete hip. Nothing too serious but bruised wrist and arse cheek. Couldn't really walk Saturday but luckily I had acupuncture scheduled for Sunday.

I know, right? I had pads on, too, when skating the mini ramp...just not shoulder pads! Sorry to hear about your wreck. Hope you're doing better!

Heal up soon Sedition.

Checked out the Dime Glory Challenge this weekend - Im lucky, was at home.

Felt that by going to this, really get your skate blood boiling again. Great to see soo many people ripping and hucking themselves.

First year I attended the street events, and really wish I went lat year.

So if there are events in your town/city or close enough, check them out. Will get you pumped and hopefully get you skating more.

It was nice feeling like im 20 again...
