The future keeps happening on television and every time it does its uglier and uglier and shallower and shallower.

Capitalism consumes everything it can make "cool" and make money from, the only answer to this problem as I see it is to only do things that either suck or are direct antagonisations of any organisation that may wish to subsume it in the future. Skateboarding as an act is one of those antagonisations, comodifieing yourself and turning into a perpetual advert of your own coolness is not. I'm glad Ryan Sheckler exists if only as an example of everything that is so obviously contradictory and WRONG about this late stage capitalism we live in. The more obvious it becomes then surely the closer we're getting to a change.
