Comparing large scale tragedies is stupid. European settlement killed off more people, but the Holocaust did it at a faster rate until the Nazis were defeated. Really, the Nazis were better at killing, but worse at maintaining their own power. The thing is, whether you were being mowed down by American Gatling guns in South Dakota or you were smothered with Zyklon B- it was fucking terrible, and the fact that society accepted both as ok is almost beyond comprehension.
Though, its not completely beyond comprehension, every one of us with a cell phone has been complicit and has helped fund a genocide in Congo that is currently going on, has been going on since 1996, and has claimed anywhere from 5-8 million Congolese people. I guess it is hard to oppose it if the corporate media doesn't report on it though:
http://fair.org/extra-online-articles/congo-ignored-not-forgotten/I mean, if people knew they were complicit in this when they bought cell phones and other similar electronic devices, apple's profit margin might be hurt, and we can't have that...so nobody hears about it.
