Slap's Board Buyer Club: VOTE OR DON'T
« on: January 04, 2014, 07:40:32 PM »
Scumco won! Yay! Cool so you guys know what to do from here, buy one of those sexy beasts and post it in here. Try and persuade your friends to buy one and post theirs in here too fill this thread with pictures of your beautiful new setups. I already have my eye on that Kevin Taylor board with the deep dish concave and I'm pretty excited about it.

If your shop doesnt have them in stock, this site http://www.thepalomino.com/products-page/scumco-sons-boards/ gives you good information about the concave and wood used in each specific board.

All set and ready to roll as soon as it dries up outside. Gonna go with the Kevin Taylor as I am yet to skate the deep dish concave.

Just out of interest I compared the prices of US and UK boards. Fuck, I gotta pay the equivalent of 80 dollars for a Scumco deck in the UK. This saddens me.   :'(

Is the kiddie pool concave actually  flat? The only Scumco I've ridden was pretty steep.

You can choose your size on all of the decks.

If the shipping to Norway wasn't so damn expensive, I'd be all over this!

Kiddie pool is pretty mellow. Not super flat. If you check that Palomino link they usually have good detail photos of the concave.

8.25
kiddie pool concave (comparable to a girl/choco concave)

shredded indoors yesterday and loved the shape/feel.  it'll take 3x as long skating indoors to break it down to where I can really comment on how awesome, or not, it is...but felt good throughout 2.5 hours of skating minis and bowls.
hardly art, hardly starving

If this is true, then sign me up for Scumco. I've always wanted to buy boards from smaller companies, but I can't seem to skate anything that isn't crailtap concave.

The "kiddie pool" mellow concave is the same we use from Pennswood.

And like art hellman said, it's pretty comparable to crailtap concave.

Scumco is sick. Huge inspiration there.

two boards ago i had an 8.125, the deck im currently skating is a 8.25 (not scumco) the size up wasnt harsh at all and ill stay with 8.25 for the time being cause i really like it. i might even go bigger eventually.

Looks good, but I can't seem to find their lengths and wheelbases. Anybody have info on that, 32' and up is too long for short legs.

that does make it sound terrible, however they're ?57.50 inc shipping from Palimino, which isn't much over what you would pay for non sale US deck.  Think of it as tax for supporting the coolness of Scumco.

Alternatively, drop Nick an email and get it sent direct from the US.  I've had him send me a couple of boards direct and he's been a stand up guy.  Doesn't work out any cheaper, but i got a wedge of stickers thrown in  ;)

Art - As always, outstanding review! Thanks for posting the pics brother. I am curious what the nose and tail length are on that bad boy.

I just set something new up last week myself, but I might jump on one of these in the not too distant future.

Man. These guys are really doing it right.

To be honest, I guess i just sort of assumed they were any other smallish board company (ain't no shame in that game FWIW), but there is real craft, attention to detail, and smart design at work here.  That veneer shopping video made my day.  I'm involved in architectural woodworking, and fabrication, so it's nice to watch people in skateboarding geek out on those type of particulars.  Thanks for sharing that, Hate.

I'm terrible at getting accurate measurements, so these may be off a little

nose = 7
tail = just under 7
wheelbase = 14
length = 31.8 (prob would be listed as 32)

whatever the measurements, the deck feels solid under my feet.  Dont think I've ever skated Pennswood before ... I'm impressed.  Expect it to carry me through the winter.
