I use the oil based Sharpie Paint Markers.  Since I Live in NYC I usually get mines at pearl paint or Lee's Art shop in the west 50's

Just go to any generic arts and crafts store and they'll have some. Those cheap generic ones work great. I bought a five pack for like ten bucks from the supermarket, which I would've felt was a slight rip off had I not swapped out with other packs to get the colors I wanted.

oil based ones like decocolor will last longer. also if there's a hobby lobby cop some tree house brand ones, super good and cheap.

Not to look like a spam bot, but I've gotten a free paint marker from http://www.liquitex.com/samplerequest/

They take awhile with shipping, and the marker isn't large by any means, but hey it's free.
