Disco is best survived as some of the best sampling material in music. The history of disco is even more interesting, like how it was heavily influenced by gay and black cultures. Or how middle america's growing backlash towards the genre was basically some weird masked latent bigotry.  I think its a clever choice for inspiration of a brand.

Well, opinion seems to be pretty split on it so far (at least judging from Slap), but if Alex wasn't behind this, people would obviously hate it more.  The only reason it's working as much as it is is because it aligns with his interests and his overall personality.
