High/Mid top Cupsoles
« on: June 26, 2014, 03:23:23 PM »
I need cupsole shoes with ankle support because my body is garbage, any ideas

I have already tried dunks, skytop 3's, the stevie supras, and the reynolds mid, any other suggestions?

No way, mega thin and flimsy sole much like all vans are.
New converse weapon skate looks interesting.
You tried most of the good ones already.
Never had an Osiris shoe but they sure have a ton of hi top cupsole options.
Supra too.

I got these at Ross a year or 2 ago, like right when they came out, so it seemed like a bad sign. They were grippy and they were a "thin" cup I guess, because you could feel everything. I skated them a couple of times and donated them to the cause. Wouldn't have picked them up if they weren't $25 and wouldn't buy again.

There aren't a ton of choices. I'd suggest the Telford but I don't think it's available anymore.
These look supportive.

Ive got and had a few pairs of the Adidas Ciero mid tops. Nice for skating in but maybe not high enough to give you the support you need. Can always find them cheap though.

Telford XLK are actually really good, better boardfeel than Reynolds mids, but a bit less durable due to the fact that Reynolds mids are a like bullet proof. The only bad thing about the Telfords is the insole that is like garbage but you should switch it with any other insole and it will be good.

If you find some Nike SB Blazer Mid CS, they are REALLY good, my favorite shoe ever, it's on the same level of durability than the blazer but with a good cupsole.

lemme correct myself. They are cup/vulc hybrid if you buy the skate editions; not the normal ones. theres a difference

I've mentioned this a bunch of times but....I got some custom sports orthotics which are like hard plastic.....they add so much to the shoe but I can skate vulcs now.....tons more choices now.....

Those mike mo's look the best.....someone will blow them out at some point I'm sure.....

That blazer cs does look sick....I'm guessing they are not easy to come by....

Nope.  If by a difference you mean an extra bumper of vulcanization on the toe area, then yes.  Otherwise, a dash more padding around the ankle/tongue, but a thin Vans shoe with probably the worst PU footbed made for skating.

Is the toe on the Angelides model like the regular superstar toe? I used to try to skate those way way long ago (like 20 years) because I had a weird RUN DMC phase, but that toe sucked. It turned so slick after a day or two.

It seems like it. But that is making me look forward to it! I've been skating a pair of superstars for months now, and I find the flick is perfect, maybe even more so now that the toe has smoothed out.

I'm not feeling the toe either....I skated a ton of super skates and loved the sole but I'm not sure I'd be down for it now.....got 2 pair Americana vin mids lined up next.....

Those filament ones dont look bad at all.

I need a fairly thick cupsole, I love the dunks (with the old super padded sole) I just really don't want to buy nikes any more. Whoever said sk8 hi's is crazy, those are super thin.

Those Hufs dont look bad and I have actually had the Alomar before I just never got more becasue they are expensive. I tried on the Telfords once at a skateshop and thought they were uncomfortable.

I'll probably try to find some of those hufs or alomars for cheap.

The Koston 1 mids in the simple black/white color way look fantastic. The Koston 1s skate so well, I can only imagine how fun they'd be in a mid-top.
