A 90s birdhouse series would have been far superior.

Are there really unanswered questions about Crailtap people care about?

See the Koston, Carroll, Beauty and the Beast, MJ, Henry, Kelch, Guy, Pops, Gino episodes.

I think people are pretty clear on the history of EMB O'Dell

This for sure. I will definitely watch this series, but A. Many of these stories have already been told multiple times and B. I don't expect them to be too forthright, if more recent Later'd's have been any indication (See Huf).

That was rad. Reminded me of this guy...

[close]

He was sick for sure. Switch krooks in Yeah Right was bonkers.
Reckon he got kicked off for that ponytail/track pants combo...?
Its pretty brutal.

Pretty sure it was visa related stuff - which sucks, because he was a nice hope for the future of Chocolate... (fits the O.G. vibe, good style, good tricks, etc) vs the vanilla-vibe that have going on currently.

Mike York is Chocolates equivalent to Shane Heyl
[close]
U gotta be kidding me if you comparing them on a skate level. From the beginning of Chocolate til his injury filming for hot chocolate he probably put out the most footage of anyone on the team, all at a high level.

[close]

I actually kind of agree with the Heyl comparison. I think because I always considered him like an average joe kinda skater. Nothing too magical would happen with him like other guys on the team that made me think what he did was impossible. It?s not bad really, even to this day his skating makes me feel like I can skate parallel to some of the 90's pro skaters. That and him usually always sounding obnoxious in front of the camera.
[close]

I considered his Mouse part pretty magical....

Say what you want about him (personally, I love me some York. He's proof that hard work and a good attitude can get you places, he has a mean frontside crooks, and he always looks to be having fun skating), but as Quartersnacks pointed out recently, "... [he's] the only first generation Girl/Choc rider to contribute a full section in literally every one of their projects that he was a part of." This is more than you can say for a lot of skaters, not just those in the Crailtap camp.

If anyone on here thinks they were skating anywhere near as good as this when it came out they are fucking tripping.
(Kalis and Karl Watson aside obviously.)
Mike York was on the OG Chocolate squad. Thats some heavy shit.
Dude is a legend.

Mike York might not have that latino\gangsta image like OG Chocolate and Menace dudes had, but he was a really good skater and had a really good style. One of my favorites ever, I really like Mike York!

His part in Yeah Right was sick too.
Are you a kook? If you would say this, the answer is “YES”

i'm not sure what sorta white he is but he's white. sounds british. he lost his pops at a young age, i remember reading that so EMB was prolly a bigger influence on him than some others. i remember having the feeling he was an obnoxious wigger ala shane heyl but the one time i skated w/ him at pier 7 he was mellow and friendly, lowkey.
the police came so we all skated off at speed, he showed us some slideable anchors down a dock a ways. he was doing crooks on it, your board could fall in the drink wicked easy.
he was a lot taller than he looked on video and pretty sturdy.
i regret my early opinions cause he was nice then and i didn't realize all the demons he faced w/ alcoholism that would lead to him getting kicked off. makes his movie murderer shenanigans more endearing and i like  ledge dancing that doesn't involve boardslides.

Why did he get the boot? I remember the York of Chocolate thread title, but only some vague memory of him calling a team member a fag?!?

Comparing him to Heyl is dumb.

i don't think he called anyone on choco a hoto. he got injured and drank a lot as i recall. his bitch cheated on him, he was just dealing w/ some heavy stuff and fell into the dark stages of alcoholism. the heyl comparison has less to do w/ skate acumen and more to do w/ being funny [funny is subjective] for the camera.

Hell yeah! Love his part. Even though it was a little too much Pier 7 and 3rd and Army stuff, it was a nice contrast from all the LA stuff that was in the vid.

I read in an interview that they got upset with him about doing a tech deck ad. He said that he was already close to rock bottom with drinking/un productive behavior.

It might be in here

yeah dude was just accepting weird sponsors like the tum yeto deal(dekline and pig) grind king, 4ce shoes, whatever he could get his hands on.  He explains it in that interview someone posted a few posts up. With him being on chocolate a lot of startup brands got legit advertising

Mike York was fine till he fronted the new bastardised version of Blueprint
skating is all about choosing your outfit very deliberately, going out in public. looking super sick. and then riding your board a little bit

York was the shit in those days, the thing with him is when he turned pro was right when all the Zero big rail skating really took off and he was overlooked cuz people weren't into tech line street skaters.

Which York part was the one where he skated to CB4?  My old man memory is failing me again.

This is great, it's got the vibe of another one of those "commercial" episodes like the Huf one, but that's ok... these guys are all legends and any footage is good footage.
