Opinions wanted: Adidas vs. Nike

Who is more respected for being a part of skateboarding? Adidas or Nike?

nike is reverred for how much they pay so they have a good team but they never 'got respect' where as addidas have respect cause they seem to have class and dont change there astetic all over the map like nike has.

my opinion is this: i respect adidas more, cause they seem more like a team, while nike sb kind of seems to be on a shopping trip to get everyone, wich is a main reason for me disliking nike! i dig converse an their aesthetic, just their "overall thing" more. and i feel like itīs not a thing for me to give my money to some "corporate" company, as long as i like their product- but buying just about anyone.......not my thing!

Adidas has the respect and better videos, but Nike gives back more to skateboarding by sponsoring events and helping to fund skateparks and skateboarding related projects.

Out of the two I'd have to say Adidas. The Nike shopping analogy for their team is pretty spot on, and in comparison Adidas seems like a more exclusive team. Maybe less these days, but they're not buying half the industry, which is nice. I like their shoes better as well, and I don't really see as much gimmicky money grabs from them as I do Nike. Plus, The Gonz has a lot of say in what happens over there. Can't forget that.


I still try to support skater owned as much as I can, having only purchased a few pair of Adidas shoes and no Nikes. While I don't doubt there's some corporate sketchiness happening at Adidas, I hear far too much more about Nike to rest easily.

Nike makes a much higher quality shoe, in my experience. Both companies have super-teams. Just depends on what you like, I guess.

I agree. I've had a pair of each in the past year and the Nikes lasted a whole summer of skating hard almost every day. The adidas, in contrast, blew out in a couple of sessions. I was a little cash-strapped at the time so I made them last but they were really shitty shoes.

Exactly. I like that Adidas isn't so in your face trying to be the next big thing in skateboarding. They have a solid team of well respected skaters like Dennis, Silas, Rodrigo TX, Mark Suciu who just skate. Nike just.... get's in everyone face like LOOK AT ME! I'M HERE! PAY ATTENTION TO ME! I'M AWESOME!!
