The Smiths - Asleep

Morrissey sang this for the encore at his last UK gig.

Which made it feel like a funeral

Had a Marine from our unit get killed in Iraq (2003). Back home at the funeral we came into the church and I leaned over to my buddy and said do you hear 2Pac? He nodded, so while all of the mourners were coming in they were playing 2Pac, Bone, Metallica, good shit in my opinion.

His family had a huge celebration at their house. Lot's of Vodka and good cigars. When we left (still in our dress blues) his Mom hugged me for about 5 minutes and whispered that I reminded her of her son.

Anyway, I have a few simple requests for my funeral but nothing that is actually cool I guess.

Little Drummer Boy - Bob Seger
Hallowed be thy Name - Iron Maiden
Sgt. MacKenzie - Joseph Kilna MacKenzie
Home Again - Oingo Boingo
Emotion No. 13 - Suicidal Tendencies

The first two tracks on Philip Glass' Glassworks. Opening so people can mourn a little bit. And then Floe since it sounds like life flourishing and shit. Then Segovia's recording of Bach's Cello Suite Prelude. Satie's Gymnopedie no.1. Fennesz "Endless Summer". And finally everyone would have to get up and dance to a Fela Kuti joint.

i was asked to pick the music for my mom's funeral back in August.  I handled all of the arrangements, and this was by far the hardest part.  i tried to put music she liked, and threw in a few spaghetti western songs to round it out.

here's a few of what i went with:

neil young - heart of gold
ennio morricone - Finale
pink floyd - wish you were here
ennio morricone - spasmo
bob dylan - knocking on heaven's door
Allesandro Alessandroni - El Puro
Flaming Lips - Do You Realize
Ennio Morricone - La Missione San Antonio
Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah

I realize this is a joke thread, but just felt like sharing

Black Sabbath "Laguna Sunrise"

My plan is to die with my ass still intact. I'll have an open casket with me face down in the coffin, ass where the face usually is, wearing some ass-less chaps and having baby got back playing the whole time.

Why would you put your loved ones through that? Such a heavy song..
