Post punk, darkwave and such?
« on: January 05, 2015, 07:29:46 AM »
Been listening to a lot of post punk lately. Anyone care sharing more bands except the obvious ones like Joy division and Bahaus?

Belgrado "Panopticon"

Funeral Parade - For You

Lowlife - ¨Cowards way¨
Before you say the music sucked, have you considered shutting the fuck up?

i had this buddy ian who kinda hit the wall for a spell. he quit work [we're all punker anarchists so that's no big deal] and started doing government drug studies for money and legally changed his name to 'cool breeze coming'. like on his license and shit.
he even decided he was gay for a spell and him and this guy dan langolier would do doubles w/ their shirts flipped up prison bitch style on the mini at true east [to most people's chagrin].
for anyways, there was a 5-6 story vacant named 'fort worcester' and cool breeze would tag in there 'we are those sad urban romantics hanging out in abandoned buildings you keep reading about in magazines' and 'there is not post punk'.
i asked mike leslie about the latter and he said 'punk ain't dead'.
for the record, i dig post punk more than punk any day and last i seen cool breeze he's back to ian and had a wicked fine lady from portland oregon.
i can't call it!

Part 1 ☠ "Pictures of Pain"

Your Funeral "I Want To Be You"

1919 - Cry Wolf

13th Chime - sarah's got a chainsaw

SISTERS OF MERCY ADRENOCHROME

The related on some of your videos reminded me this band.  Also is it me or the revival of post punk is much better than that of the original era?

Soviet Soviet - Warmata

Seen them live. Much better live. They also did some DK covers.

Voyvoda- Staroverets

Cool

Voyvoda - Who's killing the great chefs of Europe? EP

Modern:

Eagulls - Tough Luck

Old and probably obvious:

The Church - Starfish (Full Album) 1988

Don't have much else to contribute to this thread aside from gnars so here you go.

This track by Eagulls is a total killer.

Also the first Total Control album is one of the best thing to ever come out post-punk wise.

(directed to the OP) since you mentioned you're from Greece, you should really check out the album ANOFELI EPIVIOSI by the EX-HUMANS.. they're a Greek band from 1984... it's considered post-punk/death rock (which is what we're basically talking about here).  I've always loved this album, especially the budget production:

EX HUMANS-ΑΝΩΦΕΛΗ ΕΠΙΒΙΩΣΗ(FULL VINYL ALBUM_1984)

btw: you can download that album, and a bunch of other great death rock albums (and a list of great recommendations) here:
http://bloggedquartered.blogspot.com/2012/10/goth-punk-classics.html

a few modern bands that I've heard that I thought really did this well were The Horrrors (I like that Primary Colors album a lot, the others not so much)
The Horrors - Three Decades.

and i have a demo by this band Cemetery, basically a straight up christian death rip off but really good:
Cemetery - Cask

There is a big underground music scene in Greece and universities are usually the venues for free. There are many cool bands and of course Ex Humans is one of them. I am curious about how greek sound to you english native speakers.

Some dude from Ex humans formed Metro Decay who are also good.

Metro Decay - Κειμήλια

Metro Decay - Σκιές
