All of these choices are pretty spot on, which is pretty unexpected coming from TWS. Is this all the awards? Don't they usually have "Street Skater of the Year" and "Tranny Skater of the Year" too?
[close]

ya, there used to be a couple more categories.

Also, i coulda swore there was supposed to be a "Best Indie Video" category this year. IC2 and Paych were nominated....
[close]
Wasn't that for TSM?
[close]

nah, its a category that I guess TWS started doing this year

Apparently IC2 won according to the photos on the transworld site.
[close]
that video was garbage
[close]

ahaha. Well, the award was voted on by readers. So IC2 was pretty much a shoe-in given their influence on the impressionable young TWS readers of Southern California.

I voted for Paych.
[close]

i feel it won because a. They had a article already published in tws on the making of the video. b. tws staff photographers shot all the photos and skated with them all the time. c. its odd future and affiliates, tws is trying to capitalize like thrasher did.  d. fucking awesome ams for the most part.

agreed on all counts. In contrast to all the other nominees, IC2 was definitely given more shine throughout the year by TWS

ok choices, are not bad, but my quesition is - where they host the award - in a garage?
definitiv more underground than the posh thrasher gala.

Haha. I was thinking the same thing. Like, a stairwell was really the best place they could find to take pictures of these guys?

The Awards were held in the United Artists Theater at the Ace Hotel in dowtown LA. It was designed for Charlie Chaplin in the 1920's.

Between Wes winning SOTY and these TWS award winners, I'm glad these mags are starting to see what's up.

I think if they had an award for "Most Likely to Have His World Come Crashing Down All Around Him in Under 5 Years" he would've taken that one hands down.

Was Dylan's part in Cherry REALLY last years best part that has nothing to do w/ Thrasher...? Assuming Transworld wouldn't nominate any parts that they put out. Maybe I'm forgetting some tricks or something, but that part really didn't stand out that much.

I really liked his Cherry footage. It's probably the video part I've rewatched most over the course of the year, or at least it's up there. I can see how it won.

He also had that Huf part, which I'm sure a lot of people confused with Cherry. Skating-wise, everything he released this year was top notch.
