You mean "couldn't care less". If you could care less, as you wrote, it means that you do care somewhat. Couldn't care less is the proper saying, as in you already care so little that it would be impossible to care any less.

I don't exactly know the current health of the brands, but in general, Girl and Chocolate boards seem to skate well. The veneer colors are always kinda sick, and they seem to warp less. Not stoked to back the china shit, but I still skate one from time to time.

If anything, their graphics seem to be lacking. Or maybe there are just too damn many of them? I say go with less, stronger graphics.

Lakai is crushing it right now. Can they keep riders from swooshing it?

For fuck sake, that is all.

Girl boards used to be so good, they were pretty much the only company I rode from around 97-2004 but then all of a sudden they started snapping like kindling. I was breaking brand new boards on flat ground flip tricks. I moved on to DLX for many years and recently started riding polar (same wood as DLX via generator afaik) and no problems . If crailtap started using generator or equivalent, I'd go back. They have sick shapes with nice mellow concave. Team is awesome too.

CRAILTAP ARE YOU PURPOSELY TRYING TO FAIL?  DID YOU SHORT ALTAMONT? IF NOT STOP EVERYTHING NOW.
1.  Your wood is fucking terrible.  Can  you even drill bolt holes that aren't crooked?
2.  Shoot your in house artist in the face.
3.  Go find a new woodshop where quality matters.  FUCK QUANTITY.
4.  FIND A NEW FRESH ARTIST
5.  MAKE PREMIUM DECK SERIES.  START OFF WITH 10 DECKS OF ONLY GUY MARIANO IN THE SERIES. YOU GUYS NEED TO LOOK AT A DECK AND SEE IT DIFFERENTLY THAN PLYWOOD GLUED TOGETHER. GET EVERY LITTLE DETAIL RIGHT (GET RID OF TERRIBLE SHAPES, TERRIBLE PLY COLORS, TERRIBLE SILK SCREENS) SELL  FOR $80+ or whatever margin you find profitable.  I WILL BUY ALL FOR MY WALL.
6.  BAN KOSTON FROM THE INTERNET AND MAKE A KOSTON SERIES.  I WILL BUY ALL THE BOARDS IF THEY ARE MADE WITH CARE AND HAVE NICE AESTHETICS and put them in another room.
7.  CRUSH MIKEY TAYLOR'S AND OTHERS SMALL SHIT BRANDS BY BRING BACK SHIT TALKING.  CAN'T BE NICE TO THE KOOK AND COMPETE FOR MARKET SHARE.  LAY THEM TO WASTE NOW BEFORE THEY SLAY YOU.  IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME THEY START STABBING FOR PIE CRUSTS.  Haven't you figured it out that soccer moms are poor as shit and frontin?  Brand loyalty and majority of the revenue will be from us adults with extra income because we knew better than to shit out a kid and move into the poor house.  Kids are too fickle and unreliable. Notice all them shit Nike's on sale?   Kids are fucking dumb but they still have eyes to see polished turds.
8.  Develop plan without Altamont knowledge and buy back your damn shares at discount.
9.  Read a fucking book.

Your an idiot, Evan Hecox is amazing. And why only Guy??? There are tons of amazing skaters on Girl who would deserve the premium board treatment. Your other point, if you don't think kids are what drive the marketplace for companies the size of crailtap you don't understand the industry. Smaller brands can survive off of adult brand loyalty but a corporation the size of crailtap can't. Finally, Mike and Rick have earned the right to either divest because they want to cash out a bit after 20 years of hard work or to help grow there brand. Your also a fucking moron for using terms like short Altamont, its a PE company not a publicly traded one, GO TAKE A BUSINESS COURSE AT THE LEARNING ANNEX.

I skated a Krooked, WKND, and a Polar, and I honestly didn't feel a difference

pretty sure that's cause they come out of the same wood shop.

People on here are talking some real bullshit if they are backing crailtap wood and wheels.

Sure you can skate them, but their pros don't.

They worked it out, have good art and (until recently) an elite team and then bang out the cheapest crap they could from China.

If you can't tell the quality difference between a DLX and a crailtap you are either not a skater or a crailtap rider who skates generator pressed boards with crail graphics...

I honestly have never had a problem with Crailtap wood. They skate well and the 31.3 X 8.125 Guy/MJ shape is my go to. Different strokes to rule the world.

Do you skate mini-ramp or just finger boards? "I honestly have never had a problem" doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement to me. Skate a generator pressed board, pretty sure Guy and MJ do.

Marble ground actually.

It's a matter of taste. I know people who actually liked the old Blitz boards and I know people who hate Kayo wood. I prefer PS Stix to Generator wood, but Crailtap wood skates just fine for me.

I've been skating almost 30 years and I have not seen any significant differences between boards outside of shapes (pointy noses, round noses, narrow tails, etc.). Honestly, I don't think most skaters could tell the difference if they were really challenged. Take a bunch of boards from various companies, no graphics, no distinguishing markers like staining or stamps, cut them all the same shape and width, and then have skaters try them out and see if they can name the manufacturer. I have a feeling that a lot of these arguments about whose boards are better will fall apart.

I'm the same way and I have found that all the wood companies provide at least that. All "pop" is really is whether your tail/nose hasn't worn down yet and even then I've seen great skaters on totally busted boards.

shape can make a big difference too. a board with more concave is going to stay stiff longer than a flatter shape

Yeah, I can see that. I definitely felt when boards had a lot of concave, like PS Stix boards from Aesthetics, they seemed stiffer.

Usually I see concave, shape, and size as separate descriptions. Some people throw them all under the category of shape. But to each his
own.

I am in the same boat as you skate-time wise. I am a picky mufugga. And I know for certain, that if you took away all identifiers, that I would be able to tell the difference between different presses. I'm sure that most of my skate friends could too. Maybe we're just ultra-nerds?

Not that we will ever be able to solve or prove this to each other.

But I know that I would know. You know?

I'm not a picky guy but decks and shoes I notice a ton of difference between different brands. These two are kind of deal breakers for me, and when I rode some crail wood over the the last few years it has been garbage.

The beauty of experiments is that they challenge our deeply held assumptions. You're right, we can't prove it to each other through this forum but I definitely think that this experiment is possible to some degree. It may not be completely scientific, but if you are able to get a skate shop with strong reputation, I think they can reach out to board manufacturers to make this happen and have their good local shop guys try them out. It's just a thought now, but I don't see why it can't be tried. Psychology is a bitch. How many kids thought their Shorty's board had pop because the ads said "this shit's got pop."

I worked at a shop that had a scale in the back and we challenged all these kids notions about which truck was lighter. Now this was when it was really just an Indy, Venture, Thunder world with the occasional Grind King. The differences were fractions of an ounce...nothing I don't think anyone can honestly say they noticed. I think boards can be put to a similar test.

Bullshit!!! They might not be able to tell what exact wood shop it is, but they could definitely tell that some were way better than others. I've had old Blitz boards that no one (not just me, but my friends when I passed it around to try) could skate because they were flat and lifeless (felt like they'd been soaked in water for a week and left to dry out before selling).

yeah, it's like people who claim "Indy's grind better", when in fact, Thunders, Ventures and Indys are all poured from the same exact metal. Different geometries and turning radius', but as far as claiming one grinds better than the other is purely just marketing at work.
