Seriously. Are there any good skate companies that refrain from using nostalgia as a marketing tool/aesthetic?

I don't see anything out of the Theories camp as being nostalgic.

I really wish I would have bought some Polaroid film before they stopped making it. Seeing Bill's photo's makes me really wish I would have. Dude, must have stocked up on it.

I used some from impossible project for a school project not too long ago. The quality was alright.

Also I had known about the Thomas thing [A Love Supreme] and I always loved the film and think it still holds that time perfectly. But on the other end I had heard that the skaters involved in it actually wanted a real skate video and not a film with a little skating in it.

I wonder why that wasn't made?  Was it a decision by Supreme? That would've been amazing - full parts from the Keefe bros, Bici, and Ryan Hickey, maybe even a Gonz part.

if golden era means fatbill goes back to filming people and not being in the spot light, then im all for it. keep it to the point, dont try to be some edgy harmony korine type. aswell keep harmony korine out of skating. kids was good, spring breakers was bull shit. vans is disappointing me for putting his name on shoes, but i guess they will do anything with anyone....j crew

The result was the most authentic and fun video of 2014 and the closest anyone has come to capturing the purity of mid-90s Eastern Exposure-era skate videos.

Stop reading after this point.

I really dig all Strobeck's old stuff, and I enjoyed watching Cherry and  Joyride. But I think all the Supreme stuff is just as contrived as any other current video. Honestly, Meza is my favorite vid maker/editor. He seems to get the balance perfect.

Destination Unknown was the best video in recent memory, and I didn't have to think about any of this shit while watching it.

When you think about it Bill is really like a high school teacher. Hanging out with all these teenagers for a majority of his time. I think he should star in his own re-vamped sitcom; "Welcome back, Strobeck". All the F.A/Supreme kids could be his students. Sean Pablo would be Vinnie Barbarino, Tyshawn Jones as Freddie Boom Boom Washington, Sage Elsesser as Epstein, Aidan Mackey as Horshack, and of course Jason Dill as the Principal.  Oh, the antics that would come up during those 24 minutes. For all you youngsters out there a modern day "Welcome back, Kotter". Now that is retro.

I'm not trying to hate on Bill, like I said, I really dig his stuff. Especially the older stuff when he would film Pops, young AO, and other NYC dudes. The vids were short and mostly black and white. I loved all those QUIK vids he made, the trips to Brazil and Israel were super rad. The indoor park with Austin cruising hella fast flipping over that couch was all time. Even that one vid with the chick playing guitar in the beginning is so sick.  I just think the Supreme stuff is contrived. And I really do believe Meza is the best at what he does.

I like Bills vids, but I like them cause of the skaters in them not cause of his filming or editing. I preferred Illegal Civ II to Cherry.

Fatbill has been working with great skaters for many years.I don't see anything he does as contrived.if anything he seems to be trying his own thing and killing it.Plus he has a colorful crew of skaters to work with and they're getting the shine.Your hate is pointless, looks fun to be a part of.
