Girl Deck Shapes
« on: March 24, 2015, 08:46:28 PM »
Anyone know the specifics around the different Girl shapes?  I noticed the 8.125x31.65 comes in G023 and G026.  Is the difference in concave or something?

I only skate girl/choco boards in 8.12 and I skate the GO23 and the GO28. They're both 8.12 but the GO28 has a little bit shorter length at like 31.3 instead of the 31.6. The only difference is the shorter length gives it a little more squared off nose. As far as I know the only difference is in the length because the concave on all the ones I've skated is the same.

I skate the shorter 31.3 one when I get a girl or chocolate board. It has a more rounded nose and tail and its shorter obviously, the concave is the same. The 31.6 has a somewhat pointy shorter tail...

Are there any other brands that use the same shape as the 8.12 GO23? I love the shape but girl/choc wood is subpar.

GO23 is 31.625 length (typically the Kenny, Carroll, Malto).

GO26 is 31.3 length (typically the Marc, Guy).

GO26 is 31.3 length (typically the Marc, Guy).

Both the G023 and G026 are 31.625 in length.  The G028 is 31.3.

From what I can tell the G023 (Malto) has squarish nose and more tapered tail.  The G026 (Carroll) has a tapered nose and tail

The reason that I was asking is I have a 8.125x31.625 3D deck that I like and was trying to figure out exactly which of the Girl/Choco decks it matched up to.  From what I can tell, the 3D is the same as the G023.

I found these pics of the G023 on top and G026 on bottom so you can see the subtle differences -

As far as I know:

G001 - 7.5" x 31"
G009 - 7.75" X 31.125"
G021 - 7.875" X 31.25" (usually Girl Wilson decks)
G018 - 8" X 31.5" (usually Alvarez, Cruz, Brophy. Slightly less tapered/rounder nose than the G008)
G008 - 8" X 31.875"(usually Biebel, Roberts plus the G018 boys. A little more tapered)
G028 - 8.125" X 31.3"
G023 - 8.125" X 31.625" (Fuller nose. Alot of Malto. )
G026 - 8.125" X 31.625" (More tapered and pointier nose. Alot of Kennys boards are this shape. )
G027 - 8.25" X 31.625" (Rounder shape overall than the other 8.25)
G050 - 8.25" X 32" (More tapered/pointier)
G016 - 8.375" X 31.75" (I think this is a little rounder)
G030 - 8.375" X 32" (Slightly pointier but wouldn't swear on it)
G022 - 8.5" x 32.25"  (Never had the 8.5's so not sure about what differs between them...)
G033 - 8.5" X 32"
G042 - 8.5" X 31.7" (SKIDUL SHAPE. The old school shape, square tail pointier nose)
G037 - 8.75" X 32.25" (Smaller version of G040)
G040 - 9" x 32.5" (Chicos big boy shape)
G041 - 9.125" X 32.625" (Cory's PHAWT shape)

I might have missed one or more. if anyone knows more info, add it..

G044 - 8.375x31.4 with a 14" wheelbase. I suspect this was Elijah Berle's shape since they are/were mostly his model.

I'd be interested in a different wood shop version of the G016 if anyone has any input on that. I love that shape.

The new woodshop has peaked my interest....I'm sure a generator or PS board is still a better idea but I like how girl breaks these down....thanks!

Just got the yeah right deck and the shape is pretty much the same with concave. Compared to older deck this wood is a little lighter and thinner.

I'm pretty sure the g030 is/was 8.25, I've ridden like 10 in a row, and I have one on my wall that says 8.25, best shape EVER, subpar wood but man, the first week on those decks is a dream till they start pressure cracking on lipslides.

It looks like they might've discontinued it for this new g050 shape tho, anybody ridden this one yet? is it the same thing but with the new wood?

I've been eyeing this thing for a while now, I'm digging the shape.
Anyone know what the concave on this particular shape is like?

I love the G028 but it's harder to find so G018 is my (backup) go-to as well.. It's great.

Pretty much all decks are made from North American maple, regardless of where they're manufactured. This includes all the Chinese made decks.
At least when you're a washed-out hipster douchebag in NY, you can milk it at some decent looking, hard to skate spots. In LA you're just a tan-lined faggot in a school yard somewhere.

The top stamp is sick....let us know how they are skating....

before this one i had a choco with the older wood and this is a huge improvement.
new wood feels stiff and snappy, held up well during a weekend of non-stop skating..
old wood was chipped in a matter of mins from bailed flip tricks and had more pressure cracks than a wal-mart board.

I'm happy enough with it, maybe it will restore some faith in the crail boys
