early 90s/football shape decks???
« on: March 27, 2015, 04:07:44 PM »
http://skately.com/shop/p/enjoi-big-pants-small-wheels-complete-skateboard

saw this deck in the new enjoi catalog and i really want to make the purchase but really really do not want to buy an enjoi complete... it doesnt seem like they sell the deck as a standalone which is not too dope. so the question is, do any brands at the moment still make this shape anymore? i really want to give it a try.

I like how it doesn't specify wheel size.

Somewhat similar...flatter tail though.
http://fickleskateboards.com/shop/decks/the-classic/

This guy makes the best skateboards I've ever ridden. The higher price tag is more than worth it in my experience. I've ridden his decks for over a year, when my Creature's and Hopps and Krooked's would snap in a couple of weeks.

Also take a look at old guy&longboard sites like http://www.daddiesboardshop.com/ and http://socalskateshop.com/ as they probably have other decks like what you're looking for.

Good luck!

Curren Caples had one out a while back. There was a thread about it a while ago. Few other examples of similar elliptical boards too.

Cease and Desist is one of the only companies that makes football shapes, but they are knockoff wall hangers. I don't know how skateable they are. Most of the others mentioned are proto-footballs--smoothed out '80s vert shapes that are widest near the front foot and have squarish tails. A true football shape widens out more towards the middle and has a thin nose/tail, optimizing it for flip tricks (the fucked up Blind series and most Blind decks from late '92 to early '93 are spot on).

Socal Skateshop has a Krooked Drehobl Zeroks deck that is kind of close, but is a hybrid of an '80s shape and a football. I thought JK industries would definitely have one, but then remembered that Klein's shapes, even back in the day, were a bit of a throwback (wide near the front with blunt noses). Perhaps JK will make a small run of true footballs if there is demand.

if you don't have the slap ocd thing where you can't even push unless your tail is perfectly symmetrical you can bomb a hill on your cruiser or a friends board and grind down the sides of the nose and tail on the way down ( holding your board infront of you and putting pressure on it while moving it around to even it out). i do this when i get a board with a wider tail. then i go over it with a file to clean it up

I found one at SoCal Skate Shop. I do not know anything about the company or the wood. 80 bucks for a heat transfer sounds a bit expensive, regardless.

on the topic of football shaped decks, could any old heads here help identify one of those boards? it was a slick, red to purple-ish colors and pictured a stripper on a pole. the graphic was in portrait view and had "adam" written somewhere on the board. could it be an adam mcnatt board? i know the description is kinda vague but thats all i have. i looked everywhere on the internet and had no luck. i got that board off a friend when i was 13 so i can't remember much and was not very brand conscious at the time. thanks

Help! My ideal skateboard is football-shaped, 8.75–9 wide, slick bottom, and has an identical (or close) nose and tail.
