best all around video camera (low end)

I'm looking to buy a digital video camera for all around use including skating. Not looking for anything fancy just using it for fun to capture memories and making fun skating/bullshit edits.

Is there a smaller type (camcorder) video camera that anyone has that they swear by?

I've never owned a video camera before, don't know too much about them.

Here are some references to sony digital video camera http://ph.priceprice.com/digitalvideocameras/?maker=Sony-21. But pay attention, after you record your video somtimes you have to compress them with a mp4 compressor as well.
