Float Along - Fill Your Lungs (Full Album) - King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard

these are a gooden!

i just got the leak to their latest one "murder of the universe". dont know how i feel about it yet. kind of feels like nonagon infinity pt. 2 but its got this weird narration over the whole thing that in my opinion is way too similar to jeff wayne's "war of the worlds" album. i dont think it would bother me much if it didnt interrupt the music so much. it wouldnt be bad if it were just a few lines here and there, but theres so much narration that it sounds kind of corny at first listen, but i guess psych and prog are two genres that cross the corny line frequently. there are some heavy jams though and i think its already a lot more enjoyable than microtonal banana was. i need to give it a proper listen before i really can decide if im a fan or not.

i dont know if i posted this in another thread, but these guys are pretty sick. classic heavy psych rock. the video about the tuning frequencies is pretty interesting too.

Dream Machine - "All For A Chance"

Dream Machine - Why we tune to A=432hz

GRAILS

/thread

all instrumental, no gimmicks. just amazing music

from their ep "take refuge in clean living"
GRAILS - TAKE REFUGE

this album is heavily eastern asian influenced(sitar, drumming style, entrancing)
Grails - Soft Temple

straight pink floyd echoes worship
GRAILS Acid Rain

newest album, i'd say definitely derivative of old library music and scores
Grails - Chalice Hymnal

The rest of Dream Machine's (band I posted at the top) album is now available. One of the best albums I've heard this year. Just bought the record from Castle Face. Pretty dope looking vinyl too and looks like they still have some available.

Seems so vague. I'd consider bands like Silver Apples to Butthole Surfers to be psychedelic along with the Byrds and Blue Cheer....

Butthole Surfers are touring this fall with their original lineup. You definitely get to be considered a psychedelic band if you hand out hits of acid with every admission to your show.

Also, this band

So... I'm not sure how you feel about this personally, but despite me disagreeing with what they said and thinking their music sucks ass, the fact they could get dropped for that is fucking ridiculous (judging by that guy's mustache, I wouldn't be surprised if he said that/had her say that shit to be "ironic" or contrary to underground music's general attitude. Fuck, they probably aren't even actually married). And now their music will transcend the Urban Outfitters audience and pick up listeners from Fox News, who are a lot more apt to throw money around for no reason (somehow), allowing them to make more generic butt rock, regardless of label.

Everyone should go listen to the PMS 84 record you posted in the Hardcore thread instead.

I guess I understand why the label would drop them... this day and age is just not a time to play around with people's "offensive" opinions.  It may seem lame to some (fuck I won't EVEN bring up the recent Dickies/Warp Tour spat), but I can see why a label wouldn't want to deal.  Plus I would imagine J.Dwyers opinions are far left of the dial, and wouldn't want to be associated with this.

Kinda funny though... that dude lived around here for awhile and his whole claim to fame is he was Jay Reatards friend and took the pic for the Blood Visions album cover.  It's almost like they're such a retro-throwback that even the ideas and beliefs are retro and throwback!

And yes, you should all be listening to PMS 84... or at least The Templars.

^ all of that kind of sucks, but from my understanding, this band doesn't have a very big audience and throwing out some right wing opinions to a small online magazine isn't going to land them any gigs at any upcoming GOP events. and i dont really care that CF gave them the boot. they seem like a couple of close-minded dickheads who will just take their act somewhere else where people will tolerate them and thats fine, but i highly doubt they'll make it any bigger than they already have, which isn't that big.

i just re-read the main article, and while i agree with some of their opinions and observations on our culture (the smartphone stuff partially), you can't say something like this and not sound like a total asshole.
