There's some seriously great comps out there too for an introduction to some heavy funk acts, these two included:

Also, put this album on your bucket list:

http://www.discogs.com/Various-Hasab%C3%A8/release/3968952

Unfortunately, there's no YouTube link, and most of the blogspot's have dead links.  Seriously worth the hassle, GREAT Ethopian jams.

Nice one themustache!, some thick groves in there. That Ethiopian album cover reminds me of this, very cool traditional style but with what sounds like some P-Funk influence, real funky

And some Manu Dibango for good measure, this one's a monster groove:

Sublime Frequencies is an amazing resource for a lot of 'world music' but has a load of great African music.

Gotten some cool stuff from skate videos the past while.

And I'm sure it was on SLAP that someone told me about the ethiopiques compilations.

I'll listen to the stuff posted here since I need to diversify a bit.
I already posted this in another thread a while back. Found this watching a movie called 'Broken Flowers', then showed it years later to an ethiopian friend and he suddently remembered it from his childhood years.. good stuff. I smoke pot to this song and particular video whenever stress level gets too high. It's so peaceful to me.

video tape yourself saving monks. dont just do it. make sure its caught on film.

I've been listening to a lot of Mulatu Astatke. This song is really a combination between Latin/jazz and traditional Ethiopian.

MARV!
