I'm not much of a concert guy but I went to see Stars of the Lid a couple weeks back and it was a fantastic concert.

that was probably sick. i saw alcest last week, they were amazing. i also saw pentagram a couple of weeks ago, i was super hyped to see bobby liebling before its too late. almost forgot, i saw panda bear in nyc last week and it kinda sucked. i dont like his new stuff, which he pretty much exclusively played

This year;

Jeff Rosenstock (twice)
Trash Talk
Ceremony
Streetlight Manifesto
Against Me!

And I'm seeing The Adicts on Monday for the second time and the angst-ridden 15 year-old in my couldn't be more excited.
Also seeing Gerard Way tomorrow night because I'm also a chubby 15 year old girl inside.

I promise I like better music than this.

Saw King Crimson a couple of weeks ago. Seeing Robert Fripp play guitar was almost like a religious experience. also, three fucking drummers
[close]
hollly shit. Fripp is probably my favorite rock guitarist. That must have been amazing. What was the set list like?

It was. He played the craziest riffs but his strumming hand went up and down almost like a pendulum, so surreal. I've recorded the concert with my sansa clip, though i'm missing the talking drum and larks tongue pt. 2.

this was the setlist:

Cult Leader on Monday and Run The Jewels on Thursday.

Damn! That's crazy! Run the jewels 2 was my favourite rap album of 2014 and i'm really feeling the new cult leader album. I was fan of Gaza, but never paid atention to cult leader and it was a great surprise!

Fuck what I'd give to see Parquet Courts live.  That's awesome, dude.

I saw The Men this past weekend and it was the second most disappointing show I've seen after Bob Dylan.  I like so many of their songs, but the sound was so shitty I don't think I recognized a single one.  I also hoped and expected they'd play some Dream Police but no luck.  They were playing the same night as two other big shows so there was hardly anyone there.  Barely anyone in attendance, including the bands, seemed stoked to be there.

my girlfriend went to go see Bob Dylan with her then boyfriend in like 2006. She said she had never been more bored in her life. She actually fell asleep.

Saw Danzig and Superjoint Ritual last night. Danzig was whatever, Superjoint was on another level though. Best show I've seen in a long time. I saw Pantera almost 20 years ago and Phil hasn't lost a step. I missed Witch Mountain, got in for Prong's last song, which was the only one I knew. Some band called Veil of Maya was there too, but they were horrible and reminded me of this

Phil Anselmo is insufferable.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

saw health and picture plane last friday night. it was a real small venue show and a lot of fun even though it seemed like me and my girl were the only ones really enjoying ourselves. i dont understand why so many people just stand there and look like theyre not having fun during shows while the band is up there rocking out. it makes me wonder how the band must feel playing to a bunch of people standing still with straight faces. if i saw a band who just stood up there with no emotion and played their songs, id be a bit bummed out.

anyway, the show was good. i dont really care for picture planes music, but he was actually pretty good. health was good despite jupiter keyes not being with them. i did some investigating and it looks like hes been absent for the whole tour, which is like 27 stops through the US and canada, so im thinking he quit. it wouldve been good if he were there. the rest of the band had to rely on playing a lot of pre recorded stuff to make up for being one man down, but they did a good job. i got to thank the guys after and bought the first disco album on vinyl.

last couple of shows

Slayer - free tickets, so quite a lot of fun, but they used to be way better live. don't care for the new album at all.
Mobb Deep - free tickets as well, so no complaints there.
Trepaneringsritualen - crowd of maybe 20 people, but really intense and mesmerizing.
Chelsea Wolfe - best show I've seen this year. go see her if you get the chance.
Godspeed - old stuff is still really amazing, but the new stuff is kinda meh.
Godflesh - quite surreal how 2 guys can make this much noise. really amazing.

upcoming shows

Anna von Hausswolff
Author and Punisher
Nadja
etc.

Gonna go see them at the beginning of March in SF and Sac

Dying to see EX-Cult next time they come around.

Hellyeah! You will love that show... One of the best of last year for me.

Recently i've seen Coldburn, Expire (what a great show), Nasty and Deez Nuts (i hate DN tho). Next day i've seen Birds in Row + some local bands, great show too.
