Rusty setup - Propable causes ?
« on: October 23, 2015, 04:59:17 PM »
Dear slap,

Today I came back home from a 2 week trip, a trip in wich I left my skateboard at home. That being said, when I came back and looked at my skateboard, I saw that it was all rustied up ! Bolts, bearings and even the trucks ! Mind you, the last time I skated it, the board didn't touch any water or liquid material. How the hell did that happened ? Could it be cause by humidity ? I live in a tropical city. How can I fix rustied trucks ? Holy shit.... what ?

First of all, keep it out of the light, skateboards hate bright light, especially sunlight, it'll kill them. Second, don't give skateboards any water, not even to drink. But the most important rule, the rule you can never forget, no matter how much it cries, no matter how much it begs, never feed your skateboard after midnight.

Do you live in a coastal area?  Did you leave some swimwear drying in your absence?  Do you have a house or are your living quarters shared with the ventilation shared, too?

But that's what fucks me up, I've followed all those rules ! I'm starting to think that when my roomate moped the floor, he did it with my skateboard still on the floor and just let a some soapy water creep up all over it.  :-[

Do you live in an old concrete building?  Concrete absorbs moisture and will make your apt damp.

I'm currently living in one of those and it sucks... never had the board/rust issues but a lot of mold.

i was hoping for a discussion where we try to understand some of the thought processes that went into some of rustys innovative set ups. hes definitely one of the most creative and unconventional skaters when it comes to his set up.

I'm new here and I really liked to see the stuff he'd come up with. Especially when he used some parts I thought that didn't exist, like 160mm low trucks,
