Savier (Nike SB/Staba/BA)
« on: November 13, 2015, 10:18:36 AM »
This might be something that appeals to a certain demographic here and for younger guns to check out what was one of the raddest sneaker companies.

My friend owns a skate shop (holla at him at https://www.instagram.com/ripoff_skateshop/) and when Savier was going strong he was the distributor for them. Because I really like to take care of my stuff and being interested in sneakers as I am, he gifted these to me, which is brilliant. If I didn't own them, I would love to see a post like this, so if you want to see more pictures of a specific model, message me.
Included in this sample run are Brian Anderson's pro model, Staba's (which I loved at the time), the regular line and the girl ones too.

Had a few pairs of the BA 1s, so good, then they changed them with the BA 2 and they sucked. Moved onto the Shermans for a few pairs then Nike stuck the dick in and fucked them. Thanks for the post

I have a pair of the O'Conner trainers in the Brazil colorways. I got it for $50 used but it's in great condition. I always thought I'd wear it as some throwback shoe but the damn tongue is just so monsterous.

Those will fall apart the second you try to put your foot into them.  I know because that's what all my saviers with non-leather/synthetic material did.  I wish I skated them 10 years ago when they weren't disintegrating.

That's pretty much a given with any kind of sneaker that needs glue. Kids hold on to 15 year old Jordans with the idea of breaking them in some day, but as soon as you step out of the door, they will fall apart.

I had a pair of really, really simple Saviers at some point with reversed stitching. They looked like a campus, and were pretty average.

Had a pair of the raleighs. They lasted forever, I remember getting sick of them after some months since I literally couldn't skate through them.

Remember the little skate tool/bottle opener things that came with them as tags? Always thought those were amazing.

Still have the bottle opener/skate tool on my house keys. Did Rattray have a shoe ? I can remember some sort of tartan insole.

Yeah he did, plain black numbers with tartan insole and heel bit on the inside.

It's not the glue that's gone bad in mine.  The actual synthetic pleather they used is crumbling as the shoe flexes.

One of the few saviers that I have that is still skateable is the Rattrays I have in white and gum.

i was so stoked to get gifted a pair of BA's a year or so back, was hyped to try and rock them like it was 2003 again (had so many pairs back then, the nike outlet near my hometown had a huge back stock when they went under for like 20 bucks a pair)

but yeah, that glue...

and now that i think about it, these shoes were some of the worst i've ever skated to this day

i could never break in a pair no matter how hard i tried, my skating legit suffered trying to skate in those shoes for 2 weeks haha

They were awful. I think I never skated in them because of how stiff the sole was. Ended up binning them.

I'm talking about a time when I didn't care about stiff soles or anything. They lasted forever, looked god awful, felt like pillows and had some nonsense-technology...in other words, my favorite shoes at the time.

Had the bottle opener on my house key close to ten years. It broke trying to get bearings out of wheels. rip.

Trust me those things were shit. I paid 4000 yen for a pair and could never bring myself to skate them. The air cell sole was the worst thing...

I was 16, broke and got them on sale. Took me two weeks to break them in which I gladly traded for the following six months of everyday skating they could take with some added superglue and shoe goo. They were indestructible (and yes, unwearable too basically). Still have fond memories of these stupid futuristic pillows on my feet tho

I've praised them on the board before, but Rattray's pro shoe was one of the best I ever skated in. I was honestly never into their other designs.

I think the pair I owned had the same sole unit. They gave out a truckload of them at the skatepark one day so bunch of dudes I knew were talking up how great they were. I bought a pair and tried to break them in for 3 days but it was like skating in wooden shoes. I gave them away to a friend who didn't skate.

Project Ba's is my regular shoe, thought about the Saviers all October, alot of shoe models are coming out with models out of their presence with a casual but upscale form fitting convertable type of shoe to skateboard in.

hell yea! Had the black and yellow pair, still some of my favorite shoes ever.
This has me cracking up, what exactly does Black Flag have to do with measuring your dick starting behind ya nuts?

My wheel fell off of my board mid-slappy this afternoon and the only tool I had to get my axle nut back on and tight to keep skating was the savier tool.  Shit is still bad ass.

Love BA
Bought some
Could barely feel my board
Made my feet smell like cheese
Left in my closet for a few years until I gave them away

Not my favorite of all time, but it's up there, for sure.
