hahaha wowwwwww.

Honestly, I bet they were sitting on this idea for awhile, and now that Koston left, they can release it without officially offending anyone on Girl.

Apparently Rick Howard is worth 45 Million. Could that mean he is the L. Ron Hubbard of skateboarding?

Spike is using well known contemporary artists who are his friends for the artist series boards. As much as I like Marcel Dzama and Jules De Balincourt, Girl should go back to graphics like this:

graphics take a while to be produced, made in to heat transfers etc.  these were clearly in the works when they left.

I've always wondered how much skaters who start their own companies (and are successful) are worth but if you weren't joking there's no way that number is correct.

I've heard from like multiple people including the guy who owns the local shop that Rick Howard is one of the richest men in skateboarding.  And that figure isn't too far off what I heard.

Balincourt and Dzama, holy fuck it's about time! they gotta get Eric Yahnker and Allison Schulnik in on this shit. Seems like whenever skate companies get a gallery artist to do a graphic, it's the same people over and over.

Yhanker maybe would work due to his suggested slapstick comedy drawings, Schulnik's work is wonderfully textured and probably won't translate well on a skateboard.

Did you graduate from Cal Arts or something? Yhanker and Schulnik did. Or is it coincidence that you mentioned them both?

Naw, I'm an illustration grad from an overpriced college on the outskirts of toronto. I was just going for big names that would attract the most buyers for this type of thing. I hear ya on the texture bit though.

If they went the direction of the boards posted I would buy. I would buy even more if they pressed at BBS, PS, South Central etc. I'd pay $55 for a better made board with a more creative art direction.

Also, I prefer to assume that boards a shot at Berra.

I certainly don't doubt him and Carroll are rich, but 45 million? That sounds a bit much.

I just woke the missus laughing at this. BA or AO  ;D

Despite liking the above series of boards, I wouldn't ride Girl/Chocolate boards even if they were free. The last Girl board I had (admittedly some years ago) snapped in the 1st session skating flat -- a nollie FS heelflip, if I remember correctly. I'm sure that the shit quality of Girl/Chocolate wood has contributed to the (rumoured) financial problems they're having at Crailtap.

graphics take a while to be produced, made in to heat transfers etc.  these were clearly in the works when they left.

3-4 hours of graphic work (given its quite basic in terms of them probably having a lot of it templated from previous work)
1 week to produce the prints (if not less depending on the order sizing)
1 week for air shipping from a china if they were to print boards in house (not sure if crailtap does that still)

I'd say Aatila's statement is believable, obviously depends on how much other stuff was ordered at the time, graphics aren't Girl's down fall, its their wood!

You fart sniffers need to stop propagating that "Rick is worth 45 milli" rumour that is based off that one notoriously wrong website. Go fuck yourselves.
