I like Quasi too.

I wonder though why certain brands like Quasi and Passport charge more for their decks than other companies who also use PS Stix or Generator wood. Do they spend more on art? Are they just able to mark up their decks a bit because of demand?
Man you guys have it good. Thats £55 over in the UK, or $78 in your moneys. Also when printing boards its way cheaper if its a one or two colour run. Most of the Quasi stuff is 4,5 or 6 colours and with the top sheet printing too, extra cost.

Great art direction. Not really feeling the new name... Are these the same press that old alien boards used? If so, never really liked them, too stiff and not enough flex. They are putting out some pretty looking stuff though.
[close]

Alien had aproximately 600 000 different shapes which were super different even if you picked the same size which was kinda annoying.. So that depends. Quasi has alot of square-ish shapes now which I like alot.

I'm skating a quasi right now and it's amazing, them and FA have the best shape and wood, goddamn..

Yep

As well as the Scumco squarer shape on the Trending and Investigative Reports decks. They are all I ride right now.

I just ordered a scumco trending, storm has slowed down it's shipping I think so I picked up an Alien Workshop on a whim, $40 with grip at the local tactics...I've been searching for a squareish shape forever but the scumcos / quasi have small WBs the alien, at 8.125 has a 14.25 WB, should be fine but the scumco and quasis are all 14" at the size, much too stubby for my taste.

The AW shape is amazing!

Has anyone ridden the 8.75 shape? What's it like? Heavy, light, steep, flat, feels like a fucking boat or somewhat smaller than its measurements?

i must say...

when i picked up all the Mother boards, i had never seen them up close till I had them... i didn't realize how subtle some of the whacky shapes are.  they're all pretty neat.  the only regular one was the kid watermelon board... the rest have some kind of extra shape element to them

How do you mean?

I noticed that FA, Hockey, Quasi, Absorb, and the new Street Canoe decks have "Handcrafted by PS Stix" stamped on the top ply unlike other brands that use PS Stix.

absorb boards are so sick. Dave definitely knows what he's doing

My biggest complaint about Quasi is that they won't make boards below an 8. Other than that, solid.

So I love everything about Quasi but something lame happened with my current board.

I bought an 8.375, it says 8.375 on it, but it is without a doubt an 8.25.

Absorb is like that quasi sister co deal right? Someone at a spot I was skating was riding a board from a company that apparently was a small sister company to quasi.

I think it's been out for some time but never really gained momentum until they buddied up with Quasi.
I definitely recommend getting one. The shape was great and the stains are freaking amazing:

Thanks Steve, they got back to me super quick but pretty much just told me to suck it up regarding the board not being true to size.

On the plus side, the guy said a Quasi video is in the works.

Yeah, keep in mind that they are measured the PS Stix way as in "with" the concave vs the DLX way which is "across" the concave.  Everything is going to measure a bit smaller than what you might be used to
