not sure if y'all saw this, but Marquise is wearing a new style in this photo, apparently the NM420.

New Balance's caption mentioned them, but when I asked about the shoes, they edited the caption and responded, "sssh ! Future shit sorry".

really hyped to see a runner-inspired entry into the numeric line <3

I'm toying with the idea of trying out some NB#'s...  I've only skated Adidas cupsoles for the last 4 years.  Been back to Buz Pro's for the last year and a half.  What cupsole would you guys recommend?

598's are great. Tate and some others discussed them so i tried them out and just bought 3 more pairs. I would recommend going a half size up too. I dont like the insoles so you may want to upgrade. They're pretty damn cheap on tactics right now, definitely worth taking a look.

Might be my next shoe after I am done skating the sample 533 v2. I have a couple pairs left of the 598!

But so far the v2 533 has been good, a real upgrade to the original model.

What did they upgrade?

The overall construction of the shoe is better than the OG, more stability in the heel area. It may look the same but skates way different.

The lace system is better with the hidden laces. I've skated my pair for 1.5 months, and they still flick good! Usually, once the suede wears out and the rubber is exposed, I am over the shoe. But this shoe skate and lasts a while, so I am sticking with it.

I'll take a pic in a bit to show the wear.

I've been skating mostly the 533 for the last couple of years so I'm a bit nervous about seeing the shoe change.  The biggest concern is that they made the sole thicker in the heel.  Hopefully not?  If the toe are was a bit more flexible I would like that.  But what's up with that tongue?

I guess you can hide the laces under the tongue, I don't like the way it look so I don't do it.

I just started skating the 212 over the weekend and I love them. Got the black and white colorway so the rubber toe cap is black and doesn't look like infant shoes.

its usually a feature found on running shoes.

Its actually based on a pair of cycling shoes, the C600.  You can hide the laces underneath the tongue flap so they don't get caught in your bike chain.  On the 533v2, you can hide them in the eye stay and under the tongue to prevent lace breakage.

I have a question. People in Nike have to offer their skin for the EKIN tattoos if they wanna get ahead in the company, lord knows what Adidas people have to do, but I digress: do people in New Balance have to memorize all of those numbers and the reasoning behind them if they want to go up their NB ranks? It's weird, but I'm sure there is a science to it.

It will be interesting to see if the public freaks out about the "instability" and "ankle ruin" of the runner heel on NB's offering like everyone did (unfounded) with the Silas SLR. The SLR was one of the most stable skate shoes I've ever had on my feet and were never given the chance by a lot of people because of the runner heel.

there is somewhat of a science to it... in general, lower numbers are more basic shoes, higher more tech. Then the secondary numbers (at least in running) stand for some platform (ie: 1240 would be pretty tech, and like helps pronation or stability or something).

Damn, not sure if it was because it was a sample but the pair I had begun separate from the sole and midsole
