Ditches in Austin
« on: February 02, 2016, 12:09:43 PM »
I'm gonna be in Austin at the end of the month and want to skate a bit.  I've never skated a ditch and this seems like the perfect opportunity- any good ones worth checking out?  Or must-see street spots?  I don't really care about skateparks.

Apologies if there is a thread about this already- the search feature is pretty hurt lately.

Austin High ditch is the famous ditch.

It's right next to the water near Austin High. Park where all the kayakers shove off and you're at the ditch.

Five Hips is the other big one.
I don't know what's there anymore though. It's always wet too.

Lots of the good ones with diy stuff are gone now, as far as I know.

Not really any must-see street spots. No-Comply is an awesome shop to check out, and they might give you a little more insight on spots.

I know you say you don't care about skateparks, but House Park is the best skatepark in the world, and it's conveniently located downtown immediately around the corner from No-Comply.

That's an old waterslide that looks fun, but is really sketchy and hard to skate. It's right off I-35 just North of Slaughter below a super sketchy porn store/cruising grounds/fuck compound. Don't park in the parking lot.

Wasn't there a pretty famous ditch in Pflugerville too?

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

PM me your email and I can share my spot list for Austin via google docs. I made it in google earth so it's gps pins w/ names and sometimes a description. It has all the ditches and anything else you would want to skate South of Round Rock all the way down to San Marcos. I can't guarantee every spot will still be there but the ditches will be.

I never found anyone that would show me where the AH ditch was or 5H.

Legoland is gone =(

Surfer Ditch was super fun, there are some pipes hidden in the bushes for setting up in the dug out section atop the banks, good times.

There is ditch/basin at the Circle C Ranch Metropolitan Park on Slaughter Creek Rd. You have to hunt for it, pass the park, keeping it on your left, follow the oil line. It's not great but it's fun (pipes there too for grinding).

There are a few old delapitated DIY spots down in South Austin (under the overpasses, just creep/follow the tracks if you are out that way).

House park is the shit. I miss that place, great bowl, decent street, nice 1/4s, mini is a bit tight but w/w. Mabel Davis is pretty much shit in my opinion, skip it. MONSTER bowl there tho.

Cedar Park Texas Brushy Creek Skatepark is nice, the one outside of Pflugerville is nice too.
