Chapman blanks
« on: February 17, 2016, 01:27:26 AM »
So I'm kind of on a budget and I just found out this website sells chapman blanks. http://newyorkskateboards.com/collections/chapman/products/blank
I was wondering if anyone had skated one and how they compare to zoo yorks in terms of shape since chapman manufactures their decks.

to be honest chapmans are the best boards for the price. i had a zoo york way back and honestly don't even remember it, but i've skated numerous chapman decks and they've always been a good time. 10/10 concerned parents recommend getting one.

Zoo decks are the flattest concave they press, most of their other brands are pretty steep. Just email them, that website is just Chapman's storefront site. Same company.

My next deck is going to be a Chapman.  I can get behind a wood shop who's owner still rips in his 40's and refused to move to China when he had the chance.

they've also been doing colored bottom veneers more recently, i'm sure if you requested a color you could get away from the bizarre natural bottom ply

5B still overseas?
EDIT: NO  Back to SC for the moment.  Just got the New VHS Series in and they are South Central.  Might just be temporary though.

I've rode nothing but chapman boards (RAW & Hopps) the last 5 years, They are pure amazing.

It's kind of a shame that RAW stopped stocking 7.75s :/ I don't think Hopps has had any for a while.

Does chapman still do redline and blueline to distinguish whether the concave is shallow of deep? A red or blue ply in the middle?

the blanks i received didn't have any colored plies except for the stained veneer top.

sidenote: the shape and concave is exactly like zoo york/raw decks that i've skated in the past. best shape, concave, and feel imo.

are there any companies that do blanks with one layer of a solid color of paint on the bottom? if not, that seems like it would sell a lot.
