Didn't know Airwalks were so common. I had them too, don't remember which, sometime around 2000. They lasted forever.

Navy and white, 2001. I guess DC is still making a couple colors of these too.

edit:
I think I had these before I started skating, maybe 1999?:

First shoes bought specifically for skating were purple Chuck Taylors but first shoes that called "skate shoes" were these Airwalks but colored black and red with bats or pterodactyls where the knives are here.

Almost certainly picked due to having swords on them:

I bought a pair of those Vision high tops (yellow) on amazon for like 20 bucks. They skated well and fit great, but the sole came unglued fast. I wish they made them in a better quality (I don't think the amazon ones are the OG ones), cause I like them way better than chucks or skate-hi's.

Vans "Era" custom ordered with blue/red/blue checkers (the opposite color scheme of these below) with red checkered foxing in 1982.

Vics for me too. Still don't know who this dude was, but I had his shoe

even more era-specific, I cut them down too

He was a fictitious pro played by Airwalk marketing guy, Sin Egelja (R.I.P.). I think the joke was that skateboarding was becoming so commercialized that they may as well have signature shoes.

Bastian Salabanzi Vans. These are the exact color.

Bought them at a Vans store in Orlando Florida while on vacation. I was unbelievably stoked on them. I had to have been like 12 or 13.

Good to see I wasn't the only one who started out with DCs in the early 2000s. This was DC's peak, right? After the DC video I only remember seeing and wanting the Lynx because of Wenning in the mid 2000s, but by then I was all about Es Kostons and Emerica Reynolds.

DC Spectres in 2002. Got them on sale with no shoe box for under $50 at my local skate shop that closed a couple of years later  :'(

I wanted DCs because my friends and other skaters had all these models and Mantecas:

1992 - The previous year I destroyed all my regular shoes. I found these in a Rollerskating shop in a city near my hometown. There were almost no skateboarding shops in Spain back then and Vans were nearly impossible to find. I bought two pairs and destroyed them as well but these ones I kept using out of sheer necessity/pride.

the first "skate" shoes i got mightve been these or Rowley XL's:

but the first shoes i skated when i actually started skating were these, and i liked em a lot, not just because they had skulls on em

i`m 95 percent sure it were these duffs, in that colorway, hard to tell on the photo, and didnt really find a better one. mostly remember it due to the shoebox.

I'm not quite sure but the first I can remember were some really fat Vans with the puffiest tongue I've ever come across.
They looked pretty much like these shitty DC's but I'm prety sure they had a vulc sole.

I also remember having some Vans that were bascially a fattened up Era which were really good. I think they might have been some Rowley model but I can't remember.

I not sure if I bought those first or some Vans La Cripta Dos (Those were shieeet). Bought them at the mall, Year 2008 I think.

They werent regular canvas, more of some kind of nylon. Didnt skated that much in them, but were comfy.

I think the first real skateshoe I had and skated till they're dust was those Prod 2's. They were indestructible and next level comfy. Lasted over 1 year! I even gave them after to a skater friend and they lasted half a year more.

had a few pairs of Chuck Taylors - but these were the first by a 'skate' company

Similarly to my first board being a result of being overwhelmed in my virst real skate shop visit - these bad boys were the same.  For some reason I figured they were cool as hell while on holiday thousands of miles away from home.  Think I wore them for a week before realising how fucking lame they were

Maybe 93?

these have stuck in my head over the years, tried to find some recently, would love to skate some. I think they were ahead of their time, just a nice clean midtop vulc. '93 sounds about right, but might have been as late as '95
