If you're looking for a park, Poods Park in Encinitas is my favorite in california - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h93cmMkaBlY

Alga Norte in Carlsbad is pretty rad as well - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vib9W1rh_Z0

In Encinitas, stop by Mcgills skateshop (http://www.mcgillsskateshop.com/) then head to Union for a burger and brew http://localunion101.com/

If you take a little drive up to Oceanside, Alex Road (Prince) park and Melba Bishop are both really fun. Juanita's is my go-to for mexican food in Encinitas, but if you go to Oceanside there's a spot called Mariscos Ensenada that has amazing seafood if you're into that. The Leucadian is a chill local dive with pool tables, shuffleboard, etc... then Bier Garden in Encinitas is a little nicer restaurant spot with a good selection of brews. Stone Brewery has a tasting room in Oceanside as well that's really cool... Encinitas is kinda yuppie nightlife-wise so I don't go out there too often when I'm in town. Leucadia has a dinky ashtray skatepark that I really like.

Here's some other spots around there that are pretty fun/good:

Kraken, dive bar- cash only
Swami's Cafe, Local staple breakfast spot
Karina's, mexican food
Manhattan Giant Pizza

If you're into skate-tourism check out the civic center on Vulcan and D st.

late response, but like they said you definitely gotta check out encinitas park (poods) probably one of the best skateparks in california hands down. theres like 8 parks down south in chula vista, about 35-50 minutes from encinitas. If you end up heading that direction there's chicano park as well, right by downtown SD. it started off as just a spot but they pretty much just built onto it and now it's like a mini park.
damn SD is probably the best place for skateboarding on this earth, aside from LA but SD livin is better  8)
