"antismith"... i kinda like that name
[close]
We always used to call it that. So not just a Brazil thing. Then the name "willy" came around and I thought that was a stupid name. Which it is.

Anyway, Lima/Formiga game had that "I wanna win" kind of vibe from Formiga's side. That's when it becomes a contest more so than a game. Lima landing those weird tricks was cool.

Yeah, totally that! Formiga saw a weakness on him and went to the throat on that.

BR people use lots of other names to tricks and I think it's funny, just another sign how unique is they're skating world. A "kickflip" to them is an 360 flip, for example...

I don't like that Formiga guy. His side 'fro beanie said his name on it.
Before you say the music sucked, have you considered shutting the fuck up?

I don't think it would be too off the mark to say that if he built his own table, he would exclaim "This is a Forrr-mIGa table" in a slow voice and then cackle right after.

Anyway. Klaus Bohms has great style.

They did it again, played two angles of Klaus Bohms trying the front 50 kickflip in the match against Diego Wanks (lol) to try and make it look like he tried it twice, but he only did it once.

None of those are in it. The biggest names, from what I can see, are Alex Carolino, Carlos Iqui, Rodrigo Petersen and Klaus Bohms.
I'm stoked though, some of the people I've never heard of have impressed me the most (Carolino aside).

i hope they do one of these every year and throw in english subtitles and sponsors that attract big names for a ca$h prize before the berries steals their idea. these have been terrific so far. much better than flatground or miniramp skate...

We don't realize how good these guys are. I'm sure that even some Berrics prodigy would have a hard time in these games

Not for nothing but Gustavo Diaz kind of sucked in his round too. I can't say I would have faired any better in his position, but he had 3 tries on a nollie front tailslide.

Oh my god, Nicholas Dias has the sickest fucking style. Doing tricks in the most proper and/or sickest way possible. I've seen big guys be smooth, but never like that. He didn't really have to go hard on that game and I'm curious to see what he's capable of.

Just caught up on these--SO sick!
Like most of you in this thread, I cannot believe some of the shit going down first try, and then matched first try on defense. So fucked.

The Edgard Lima vs Marcelo Formiga match () bummed me out HARD. It genuinely looked like Formiga did three different tricks the entire time. Sucked/such poor form. That's like playing SKATE and knowing your opponent can't do double flip body varial variations...and doing ten of them in a row until they lost.

Especially lame because Lima seemed insanely good and ripped a frontside flip nosegrind first try!! Really wanted to see more of him, but instead we have to see some clown doing 5-0 to crooks variations to inflate his ego.

The Yan Felipe vs Luiz Apelao match () was really sick too...Apelao had great style and speed. I was really bummed he lost in round 2.

These rule and make BATB look like child's play.

Side question because maybe this is a good thread to ask...
What's the Brazilian equivalent to like, the Sabotage, GX1000, or Static videos?
You know, just raw/underground/core street skating.
I have an affinity for regionalism in videos and would love to see more underground international skating.

I haven't heard of most of these dudes in this game, but a lot of them have incredible style and would like to see them, or other rippers skating street.

You can start with VX Days series from Black Media http://www.blackmediaskate.com/site/?s=vx+days but there are more. If I remember them I'll add it here.
