contemplating getting the huf hupper 2 lo. anyone on here have an experience with them? true to size?
True to size, slightly on the wider side in the forefoot, and a little more of a round toe shape than most Huf shoes I've tried. Probably fit best on a higher volume foot - if you have a skinny/narrow foot, you'll probably have to really choke the laces to get them tight, but they're perfect on a fat/wide foot like mine. The cushioning is the standard Huf vulc insole with the perforated neon green foam. I wear custom orthotics now, but I never liked the Huf insoles (they feel cheap/flimsy to me), and would previously switch them for Vans Ultracush.
Outsole feels stiff/thick out of the box, but that turns into a nice support/flex compromise once they're broken in - just walk in them for a few days before you skate in them. I've had two pairs, and one cut/blistered up my heel the first few days, but was eventually fine.
You'll quickly rip the stitching on the ollie area where the leather meets the canvas. Other than having to glue that spot down, the durability is great - the higher foxing tape really keeps the shoe protected. The volume combined with the lace/eyelet placement keeps the laces away from the grip nicely.
Other than what I think is kind of a crappy insole; overall, I recommend this shoe very highly.
