Zero goes solo
« on: November 28, 2016, 01:04:21 PM »
we are setting up a small operation to sell & distribute Zero independently in the new year.
our goal is to focus on doing things small and well by servicing the best accounts and distributors. we'd like to continue to use dsm (dwindle) as our board manufacturer for the intl. market and we're setting up manufacturing for north america in the US & mexico.

the dwindle staff is amazing and they have been very supportive, but zero is small and what makes the most sense for us is to be independent and connect with the shops, distributors & end customers directly that appreciate the brand and it's history.

if you're a shop or distributor and would like to get set up to order zero directly, please send your email to: [email protected]
below is the message that dwindle sent out last week. obviously, feel free to talk shit, give your 2 cents/advice or ignore this post -jt

From: Bod Boyle, Dwindle Distribution 11/23/16
"This message is to act as a notice of change to the working relationship between Zero Skateboards and Dwindle Distribution. After the end of the initial term of the license/distribution agreement between Zero and Dwindle, Jamie Thomas has decided to run the brand independently. He will be setting up his offices in Carlsbad, California. Dwindle will continue to sell and deliver all Zero product until Jan 15th 2017."

Glad to see Zero staying above water through everything. Zero has been a solid brand since the start so it would be real shame to see it go. Good luck Jamie, thanks for keeping it real.

I hope things work out. That last No Cash Value vid was a real reminder of how gnarly and awesome Zero is.

Every time I hear a rumor about Zero not doing well or an avenue falling through ran by Jamie I picture that "nah, one more" 5-0.

Good luck, Jamie, can't wait to own a copy of No Cash Value.

Do you already have a certain mfg in mind for North American boards? I'm based in Europe but have sworn to never ride dwindle boards again, but I've been really hyped on Zero for the past couple of years and considering I'm in the US once a year I would love to support.

Just make sure to keep things running along nicely for a while, staying respected within skating, before getting too big for your distressed denim britches and "diversifying" all over the goddamn place.

I'd say running a small, independent brand should work out well through the third quarter of 2017; after that you should consider adding a few more niche brands to the stable and maybe a shoe company or a price point imprint.

If you need any pointers on this stuff, Chief, I can put you in touch with some of the business consultants at Ernst & Young.

its good, yes, compared to other non-american woodshops, i`ll give you that, no question. but if i have the chance to ride ps, generator, bareback, sadly i will always choose those, i guess. danes new part might change that though. (or, hint hint, a franky villani board).
in any case, thanks for responding to my reply, much appreciated!
