Why do a lot of people hate heelflips?

a lot of people cant do heelflips that well, i mean people can do them on flat but i think most people can't heelflip off or over something, it seems like one of those overlooked tricks from my experience,

i didn't know people hated them. i usedta have them better than kickflips in the 90s but my buddy was trying kickflips into ledge tricks and also most of the pro flip to slides were kickflip not heel so i think commercialism maybe influences us towards one over the other?
for a long time i considered half cab flips 'too easy' since no pros really did them and certainly never down gaps and i could do em but then when they became popular briefly they were 'legitimized' in my eyes.
same for nollie 360 flips [except i never had them that easy] and prolly a lot of stuff. until it is in a video or mag it seems like a varial flip or willy grind. a lesser tier trick.
because el toro, wallenberg, love and so on were kickflipped by pros we imitate that.
or maybe i'm over thinking and your friends just suck at them or whatever people have already said.

Nollie and switch heels feel great to me. Even a fakie heel feels ok. Something about straight heels feels horrible to me.  That said, id sell my sole for solid front heels.

I know im doing something wrong. Learned fakies same time as nollies. Foot at an angle. Works great for switch. But going regs, i end up facing backwards. Been this way 20 yrs. I used to fast forward heelflipping dudes parts years ago.

 the flick is on a heelflip is waaay easier than kickflip flicks IMO...this was the 3rd trick i learned after Varials and can land them 95% of the time.  I kind of hate this trick because(as said earlier) it looks and feels too akward to heelflip into a grind.

when I was first learning them in ancient times, someone told me to kick both heels forward. if you learn to do that, they will stay under you almost every time.

I can do them sometimes, but I mostly end up landing them with both feet dragging off the edge of the board and I have no idea why. I can varial heel no problem though, makes no sense.

id say theyre inconvenient, its like eveyone likes sticking to the routine of kickflip based tricks cause theyre easier to set up and kick but heelflip tricks are more precise when doing them, like you can setup weird for a frontside flip and still pull it off but you cant for frontside heels. you gotta make sure you can flick your heel.

I love heelflips.
Fakie heel variations are some of my favorite tricks.
I feel like they don't get as much shine because they look more awkward going into a grind or board/lipslide variation than any sort of kickflip does. I think nose/tail slide variations are the exception where a heelflip in/out looks pretty natural.

Consider a kickflip front board vs a heelflip front board. Kickflip looks way more natural to me, I think.

I think I first did a kickflip when I was 14 like everyone else....learned heel flips and sadly couldn't do kickflips until I was like 35.....

Heel flips stay under you while a mobbed kickflip will dance in front of you to no end.....

Varial heel? (I still think front shuv heel) is my go to....iand I can do a ton of bad others like crop dusting half cab heels......

Heelflip tricks require no flick....which is right up my alley....

People don't like them because the kickflip counterparts just look better......
