I think it would be sweet having the 144's on an 8.5. Get just a bit more leverage with just a tiny bit less overhang.

Oh man, that's great news. I was skating a pair of stage 8 146's (at least I think that's what they sized them as back then) and they were 8.25. Added a stage 11 forged plate to it and an inverted kingpin... best Indy's I've had. So many boards are 8.25 these days, it totally makes sense.

Holy Shnit, this actually works? No geometry probs? I have some 8's and could try that myself.

Geometry was fine. Skated them for a year and a half after the conversion, till they hit axle for the whole rear truck! I drilled and tapped the forged baseplate and installed a threaded insert so I could use the Grindking kingpin. I'll post a photo of that process sometime soon.

Does this mean Chico Brenes will finally stop riding 139s on 8.75s?

I saw your mom do a ollie to cooch drop straight down the big black pole, it was gnarly. she defiantly shut that shit down

I think this is a good thing for sure - gives people way more options in board size when they want to change things up without having to change trucks. You could easily skate from an 8 to 8.375 with these.

This sounds like great news, I just started really like Ace 44's on an 8.0, they knew there's a sweet spot.

This is great! I'm still riding 139's on 8.25 because the 149's are too clunky for me.. 144's will be perfect.

Probably a typo.  kids are always asking him what size trucks on Insta and he always says 149

149's on an 8.25 are pretty perfect.

Sweet! I guess the Krux sales were good enough.

I always found it funny that the '3rd world' trucks, e.g., Silver, Destructo, Royal, Fury, etc., have all offered an 8.25" axle for sometime yet Indy and Thunder didn't bother. ACE and Theeve might have picked up some of that slack tho.

Riding some 5.5" Theeve atm. doubtful the 144 will get me to switch off tho....I'll wait for the Thunder 148 ti ;)

I'm guessing these 144s will sit a bit lower than the current standard 149s also.

Doubtful, the 139 and 149 are the same height.
159's are 1.5 mm taller if my memory serves me correctly.

Wait and See. Rhino talks about it in his Juice Mag interview,

"Keith was talking about doing some sort of mid truck in between the Stage 11 and the Low. Maybe a couple of street dudes want a different geometry going on." Juice Mag #74 Page 36.

149s and 159 standards are both 55mm high, I think...

The forged are already between the low and standards, tho.

Here's a chance for Indy to trim that hanger yoke down and make a 'snappier' truck.

true but it might have something to do with where the height is added affecting the geo. a slimmer or thicker baseplate is going to change things in a different way to hanger position/ design.

man, im really looking forward to that! if indys have that quick turn like thunder but still deep indy carve theyll be amazing. ever since getting back to the lows ive been stoked and remembered how nice and solid of a truck indys are, theyre just a good solid truck. the weight is just a hair much but i like the ratio of weight and build.

I really hope they revamp the Indy 139 too and make them lower(like thunder 149 height 52.5mm tall) and make them lighter with better rebound stock bushings, that would be an amazing truck.

I know that's why thunders are good, good height, good rebound/response/stability and light weight.

Hopefully someone from that research team reads this

I hope they don't do that, you can always ride indy lows if you want that low truck feel. I like my indys tall, which means that they will turn unlike thunders.
