Carry On
« on: March 10, 2017, 03:49:55 PM »
I'm about to go on a trip to SF then to Portland, don't really travel much nor do I ever get the chance to skate because I'm usually with my family, but this time I'm going with my girlfriend and she'll let me skate around (hopefully). But how do I keep my skateboard a carry on along with my regular carry on bag with my actually clothes and everything. Not trying to pay an extra charge for checking in a bag/board.

Along with this how is skating in a new/foreign state? Weird? Fun? Same?

I checked a bag and made a Dakine backpack my carry on and they let me keep my board with the bag between my legs.

I haven't had any trouble with a skateboard strapped to my bag even though it's bigger than it should be.

get a backpack with straps or gerry rig some straps onto it.

I have this thrasher duffle bag which has straps on the bottom. Terrible value ($60 or something for a shitty duffle bag and a logo of a company i dont like) but it holds a skateboard and clothes.

I usually take my trucks/ wheels off (put them in backpack) and carry the deck. Never been a problem.

You won't have any fun in Portland though... Not enough skate parks...

I flew between canada/US during christmas, took my board strapped to a backpack as a carry on (and checked a bag for clothes and such), no problems!

I would suggest you just check a bag with your clothes, I think I heard somewhere that they count a skateboard as a second carry-on item even if its strapped to a bag. There might not be enough room in the overhead if you try to bring all your clothes, a backpack, and a board on the plane.

Put trucks and wheels into your suit case. Bungy board to the outside. No problem.

i've had 50/50 luck with this.

Flown on a plane a million times with a board strapped to a skate/bookbag & have never had an issue. Usually they just have me put it in the overhead compartment or under the seat
