Not that I really give a shit but what's the point of having rules if you're not gonna stick to them? Good on Sewa for calling himself out.

That mini ramp skate and ledge skate shits all over BATB at this point. It's not even close. At least you don't know what you will see in those.

I haven't seen a ledge game.  Cant find it.  Any idea the name? Being a ledge dancing fan,  I'm down for that

He's not my favorite but i was rooting for him.  there are not many dudes who can routinely do reynolds sized shit and then come thru and beat all the robots, jocks, flatground specialists and what have you at their thing.  You can say he's not good at flat but he did land quite a few hard tricks in a row to get there, and all of his games were good ones.  diego, luan, nick, & sewa (who is now a disgrace to the drago clan)=he's good at flat.

also, why were fools practicing cheerleading splits in shanes face during his last letter attempt in the finals and it was ok?  messed up, but kinda funny too.

the apology was the cherry on top.  lol

Sewa may have cost himself the game, or at least tipped the odds in Joslin's favor by calling himself out on the toe drag, but he has now attached an image of honesty/humbleness to his name.

Late flips seem to be the secret weapons. Surprised to see no one pulling out the Kerry Getz kickflip late shove it, that was the first late trick I can remember from my youth.

As someone who got into skateboarding for its lack of competition, and someone who gets bummed when I see kids playing skate at the skatepark instead of flowing around it, these are entertaining. Watching the best of the best battle it out in regards to who can flip their board in the wildest way. Kinda like a yo yo competition with a hint of boxing in a ring mixed in.

Dudes are breaking down the rules on the Berrics Youtube comments if that's your thing. We've reached the point where parts of skateboarding have rules people pay attention to and get worked up over. Then again when money is on the line, that's understandable.

Is there a site where we can place bets on who will win these things?

"Offensive toedrag gets one do-over"

Re-match when?

But ultimately it will be decided by the referee.

I like how at the end of the rules they basically say the referee can just completely disregard the rules.

The way it's written, that only applies to "defensive toe drag has a bigger margin for error, but...";

not "all rules will ultimately be decided by..."

Tortfeasor, any thoughts on this?

sewa's tall. bigger feet there is going to be a wider margin for perfection. that call was unique, but had he not won in the past no way he would have made that decision.

instagram post explaining the whole thing kind of tarnished the decision honestly. going in on "in life you have to make the right decision etc".

it's like BATB is a judgement of character at this point. and Sewa has definitely gone in for the kill in the past. all you have to do is study the opponents weakness and drill them after going through the motions.

O'Neill's approach was waf, i was rooting for him but he went for the jugular way too quickly.

joslin absolutely deserved to win, but i've never witnessed one trick he's done on flat that was compelling.

Too bad they cut the party where Joslin bailed twice the fs double flip. IOW, he would of lost right away.

The nervous factor probably made him ask for a redo right away, thinking that it was worst than it actually was.

Sewa was sitting pretty with only S and had Chris at T when he made the call to redo himself, and in his mind probably thought that if he'd won it with that dagger then the YouTube comments section/Slap would blow up with people calling him out for the for drag. He still had plenty of room to shut it out but unfortunately it backfired for him because Joslin came back.

No-one gunna mention the SW FS 360 Shuv title on Joslin's last trick?

All things considered I thought the referee-ing during finals night was actually great. I always bring it back to, in a game of skate against your friend or in front of like 20-40 people at a high school or whatever, there are certain unspoken rules of what counts and what doesn't.

It doesn't always come down to these specific "offensive toe drag" stuff, but those are good guidelines to try to summarize the rules imo. Hence why a lot of YouTube people are debating the concrete aspects of what happened but forgetting it's ultimately up to the ref.

The best back and forth in finals night was Shane's one-foot front 180 to start his game, cause it was floated so high. I'm not sure he did it on purpose because or just floated it because of nerves or what but it was tight.

Oh they were running titles on the live stream? I only saw the YouTube videos this morn.
Jenkem, can we get an interview with whoever the nerd was that was that had to sit there running titles through on the fly, only to butcher it on the last trick of the whole event?

I wonder if he had some kind of beatpad or midi controller type thing to punch tricks through quickly, or if he was running keyboard shortcuts on a lappy.
Either way, fired...

I watched live. No titles for trick name as far as I can remember. Someone with high-speed internet would know better than me though. My stream was all wonky.

They did provide some of the letters for S-K to S, for example. But I also remember those going in and out and not always showing up. In the livestream it was definitely different because people were taking mad long in between tricks, or I'm just not used to that because it's always edited. Either way.

It's better without the titles for sure. But I also see how they're useful.

What apology?

Joslin apologized for winning basically because of Sewa's self redo and Berra said, quite appropriately, "don't be sorry" as he's hoisting up the trophy. Only in skateboarding does the winner feel bad for winning. Lol.

it was obvious joslin couldn't do any double flips, so sewa could've have gotten him with a simple fakie double flip, but he has more class. going for the pressure flips really bugs me ... it's a cheap shot. anyway, who cares one way or the other

I like how it all ended.
Sewa won more than a BATB trophy.
O'neill showed his petty side wanting to go to the jugular asap and didn't look like he was having any fun.
Nick Tucker seemed like he didn't care too much and seemed to have fun.
Joslin's win was unexpected, but he played it like you would play it with some friends during a session, not giving a fuck.

Nick Tucker seemed like he didn't care too much and seemed to have fun.

Interesting, I saw his demeanor as completely different - like a little brat that was pissed he was not the absolute best and then just acted over-dramatic when he bailed - "I'm losing but I will still make it all about myself".

I was thought the same thing, his flat ground game (while heads and tails above mine) is ugly - that said, Tucker wasn't so graceful either, all slow and clunky.

Sad to see pressure flips coming back just to win BATB...late flips, I like to see (BS pop shuvs, front foot lf were always my go to, along with impossibles, for games of skate).
