all shoes [except some new balances] are made by 3rd world slaves and nobody has a problem w/ it but if you tell a racist joke everyone wants your career to fail.
prolly all clothes are made from a 50/50 cotton suffering blend but i think american made wood is alright.

The one where all the clothing was made from organic, locally sourced, artisanal, donated dreadlocks?

half life was the shit!
as someone said, coaltree is prob the only one (is domestics made in US?)
etnies, of all companies, are pretty good with using recycled materials etc. or at least they are in the case of that jameson (eco) shoe. no one has really replaced i-path though and it's sad because they used to offer lots of hemp options.
anyone remember when lakai was doing runs of shoes only made from recycled materials?
I care about this shit but it doesn't really seem like there's a market for it anymore...

Impish sausage is definitely gonna blow up as a euphemism this year

I feel like there will be a market for it sooner than later. At least here in Europe there's definitely more attention for sustainable/ organic clothing

This is pretty much true. None of the NB skate shoes are made in countries with decent labor standards (besides those limited edition made in the uk ones).

This company makes fair trade vulcs, they used to be like $30 but then they got sued by Converse.

I just buy used sneakers from thrift shops/ebay.

There's so much wasted shit, in the long run it's more ethical to use the shit we already have as it's better for the environment than making new shit from organic cotton or whatever.

For skateboards just buy USA made boards. The Chapman boards are okay.

Try here:

I've skated two of their street decks, really good pop and fees the same as any other deck.

I've been skating the ReLife recycled wheels, they're decent.

I wonder if urethane is ultimately doomed because I believe it's derived from petroleum which is derived from oil, and one day the oil is going to run out right?

Most of the major clothing companies have sold organic t-shirts at some point. Element and Volcom still do.

Lakai's post Podium shoes were made in South Korea, unlike most skate shoes made in developing southeast Asian countries. Not sure if the still are.

The unfortunate thing about 'green consumerism' is, its still consumerism. One thing many of us could do is slow down on buying so much shit. Instead of buying a Prius, look after the car you do have, drive it less. More energy is spent manufacturing a car than it might expend during its lifetime.

You could apply this to skate stuff. Use your stuff until its spent. Patch up your shoes. Repurpose your decks (make cruisers out of them), ride your wheels and trucks until they can't be used anymore or pass them on to someone who will get more life out of them.

100p agree but,
skateboards break and skateshoes die fast, so especcialy within skateboarding 'green' consumerism wil always be a step forward.

EDIT(posted this in 'does anyone care' tread)

maybe not ideal for skating (as they are not skate-shoes, but showing potential)

EDIT: eco friendly, spain- made, reasonably- priced (that is between 35 and 50 Euro)

I have to admit I really liked the Habitat boards with a bamboo ply layer and hemp cloth they did a few years back. I also was given a 100% bamboo board to try and while it lasted long it had no flex. I think 2 bamboo plies to 5 maple could be good ratio and save a a few trees...

I had a Tim O one I really liked.  Ended up breaking, but I got a lot of use out of it.
