I don't know...  Are the Doggers killing it or are the Cubs blowing it?  Either way this is great!  #DoggersVSWankees

That would be a great World Series!

Two highest payrolls in baseball, they should be able to make it every year.

Goddamn I didn't believe you but I looked it up and I was surprised to see Yankees at #2.  Who do they have that's getting all that money??  Chapman and Cee Cee I guess?  I figured they dumped all their big contracts a few years back.  Either way, props for them coming back I didn't think they had a chance against Houston (and nobody saw them even going this far).

This is all one big setup for the Cubs to bounce back from 0-3, right???

Yankees vs Dodgers would be a pretty amazing series at least from a marketing stand point.  Dodgers are better in just about every way but that doesn't mean everything.

I wouldn’t rule out the astros just yet.... we got Kuechel tonight and Verlander Friday. If the yanks win game 5... then yeah maybe. Game 7 will be the tough one. CC looking like CC of yester year, and we might throw Peacock out to start ha.

Edit...

well... never mind

oh I'm not counting them out at all... even down 2-3.  they could easily rifle off two wins... they're the best team in the MLB in my opinion.  I'm rooting for them 100% (although Verlander bugs me for many reasons).

I can't even imagine how bad Joe Buck is gonna over-blow the Dodgers/Yankees vintage "hype".

Goddamn you Cubs you overrated pricks!  If it wasn't for the rain delay last season the Indians would be wearing the Championship Rings!  Your fans are frat boys, your ace pitcher is a steroid monster, your mother is a whore, etc....

To me, if the Yanks make it over the Astros, it's a no brainer.  I really don't understand Yankee hate at this point... maybe 10 years ago when they were "the evil empire" but now they are a pretty awesome team with amazing young talent.  Outside of Tanaka and Chapman they haven't really "purchased" any talent (CC didn't work out).  The Dodgers are currently the doing the evil empire thing.

Plus the wife is from Jersey so it'll be nice to be actually rooting for the same team for once.

That being said, I'm still pulling for Houston.

I was thinking of the same thing. I guess it’s because they’re a huge market team, and ESPN constantly splooges over ‘em (like any big market team). Things of that nature. I think the hate is directed at the franchise as a whole not necessarily the current roster. At least that’s my interpretation. Judge seems like a great kid.

I’ve seen this Astros team lose 100+ games multiple years. I’ll keep the faith until that final out. But Jesus these guys gotta swing at better pitches.

Oh yeah, that's a great point.  I know a lot of people (myself included) who are more off-put by ESPN's constant 24/7 coverage... plus the over-saturation of their players; blowing Derek Jeter and Rivera during their retirement seasons (when I've never seen them do that to any other player, ever)... they market the Red Sox/Yanks like it's the titans of baseball even when they are 3rd and 4th place in their division.

Houston is awesome.. I love watching teams rebuild and have it actually work out; they've been at the bottom for so long.  I'm sure I'm missing some random season but when was the last time they were consistently good?  When they had Nolan Ryan?  Either way they only need to rifle off two wins so it's in no way impossible.

They had a great run in the 90s. Especially the late 90s, 1998 specifically. “the killer Bs”. Astros won 102? Games, but ran into the Padres who’d go on to win the NL. As far as recently, that 2005 World Series is frustrating. We led in all four games I think, only to get swept ha.

I think NY was most hated during the Jeter/Rivera/Petite/Posada era perhaps? They should do a segment on a show and interview random fans and ask “do you hate the Yankees? If so why?” I bet most of the replies would be, “because.... it’s the Yankees”.

Holy shit were they in the WS in 2005??  My memory is fading me bigtime... i'm old so it gets muddy after a certain point.  And yeah totally forgot about the Killer B-era.  That was a dark period in my baseball fandom for sure, The Giants were terrible and all I cared about was skateboarding and we couldn't like sports back then.

The Yankees are just the most storied and winning-est team of all time, so they're always gonna be looked at like the "boss"...and everybody hates the boss.  Their most hated era was just George Steinbrenner using the money he made from the team and reinvesting it like crazy... they just had the most revenue so they could pay everybody more and lure away any free agents.  You really can't blame them... i would love it if it was my team doing that.  I'd rather the money being made go back into getting the best players then into the pockets of the owners (a la Marlins, A's, etc).

For the record, I hated them too... more so out of jealousy than anything else.  Everybody hates the dynasty teams... Everyone hated the Giants when they were winning.

Anyways, rant over.  FUCK the Dodgers

Shut the game off last night in the 8th with Houston down 3-1.  LA bullpen was cruising and the Astros weren’t doing shit.

Whoops.

Yeah....pretty crazy game. I almost shut it off too floating between the Warriors game and the Lakers game. Then checked back and they were in extra innings and just had to stay and finish the game. Glad Houston took one in LA. Looks like this is going to be at least 6 game series.
