It's not really something that comes up a lot, but I always go with, "Front cab", "Frontside half-cab flip", etc.  "Fakie 360" just sounds weird to me.
[close]

When's it's fakie bs/fs 360, I'm opting for full cab/fs full cab everytime

Fakie backside flip? Half cab flip. But when it comes to fakie frontside flips? Fakie frontside flip. My brain can't see it otherwise.

What did Reynolds do at West LA 12 in Baker 3? 180 over a planter with a no-push "fakie frontside flip".

This man gets it

Only thing that bothers me is it should be backside cab. Regular, nollie, switch, back 180 means your back is traveling forward as you do it. For some reason they fucked up naming fakie tricks.

I happen to have this very same conundrum.

Fakie was invented prior to switch becoming a popular trend, therefore everything done fakie is viewed a opposite of doing it regs. For whatever reasons, this never gained traction with Nollie. My guess is because fakie was invented or at least primarily developed as a technique in vert/transition whereas nollie and switch mostly originated in street skating.

As for the debate over frontside flips? I'd call it a frontside half-cab flip, or in a front heel case, a frontside half cab heel. But, its not like calling it a fakie frontside flip is wrong.

Great idea....while you're at it....make a point of calling fakie.....switch nollie.......

Fakie=backwards off of tail
Switch=backwards off nose
Cab=backwards off tail turning 180....

It wasn't really switch cab from what I remember it was 180 nollie.....

they're switch helipops

and your "fakie fs flip" is a switch half heli flip

This! Also using the "frontside cab" logic cabs should be called switch backside helipops.  ;D

I learnt that cabs were only backside and thus always called them fakie frontside flips. hate all you want, but I (we?) grew up in the 90s and magazines (who were all over the place with their naming) were our only source of trick names. I blame this mostly! I mean fuck, when k-grinds first came out everyone was calling them "pointer grinds" and switch was "opposite stance". What about reverse nose drives and shit? No one uses those trick names anymore...
***
Devil's advocate question(s):
- what do you all call the frontside version of a halfcab noseslide? I call them fakie front nose slides and I think that it makes perfect sense.
- what would you call half cab flips if cab never invented cabs/ half cabs? fakie backside flips no? take cab out of the equation and I think that also takes a lot of ambiguity out of naming fakie tricks that spin frontside/ backside

Impish sausage is definitely gonna blow up as a euphemism this year

A cab is a backside 360 in fakie. Your body and board spin in the exact same way fakie and regular.

Calling a fakie frontside cab/360 is spinning frontside and it makes sense to me.
[close]
wat

You know why this conversation is impossible to have on the internet? Because people suck at articulating the definition of FS & BS spins in their head and just assume everyone thinks the same as them.

Let's break down the above as an example:

"A cab"
We all know what that is.

"is a backside 360"
Picture riding regular and doing a normal old BS 360. That's the definition of 'BS 360' in this instance.

"in fakie"
Now picture that exact same body and board motion doing the exact same BS 360 above, only this time you're skating the other way and of course are popping off your boards regular tail/switch nose, i.e. Fakie.

All of a sudden we're now defining a trick as BS, even though our body is doing what most definitions would class as a FS trick as the front of our body is the first 180 to spin in the direction we're moving.

Now perform the same exercise with the other 360 and we have FS Cabs.

Thus we're left with:
BS Cab
FS Cab
BS Half Cab
FS Half Cab

I assume the reason we drop the BS is because that was the first variation that earned the nickname Cabellarial, and FS was added to the opposite rotation to differentiate the trick without coining a whole new name.

Correct me if I'm wrong on any of the above.

Also,

Who cares about cabs? As long as we all call back smiths monty grinds, all is good.

Mono Rail grind or GTFO.

frontside cab is a million times easier than backside cabs for me
Dude on flat - but going over distance, on Vert or down a Gap a fronside cab/ half cab
is much harder...
Fronside half cab was my to go trick back in the days for gaps, and i tried fronside caballerials for years in
my ramp. In a very low and mellow  Mini i have done a couple to smith stop and I feel like a minirampchamp.
But never done a proper one in a +6 feet ramp.

Still sick move I dream to do..

So, here is the million dollar question!

If you go fakie, ollie, rotate 360 degrees frontside, grab the board with your back hand on the toe side of the board, between the legs,  what is it?

Ugly, that's what it is!
I'd rather watch Bill Danforth push...

So all is settled then?

It's ok to call them whatever you want as long as you grab them?

What about half nabs?

Frontside only?

or is it ok to call a switch backside 3 a full nab?
I'd rather watch Bill Danforth push...
