Frontside Nosegrind Pop-outs
« on: May 24, 2017, 09:58:00 AM »
Help settle an argument part 2 of 2:
Same thing as the impossible poll.
Here are 2 frontside nosegrind pop-outs.

Daniel Kim with a balanced nosegrind to a nollie style popout:

and Tom Knox with an overcrook lookin nosegrind to a more noseblunt style popout:
(notice how he turns the board more at the end than Kim and pops more off the side of the ledge rather than the top)

What you guys think? Is one of these more proper than the other? Or are they just different, equally proper, ways of doing the same trick? (style/which way you think is cooler opinions aside. This is just about if they count)

Undoubtedly equal. Daniel Kim is steeze. Doing one in a line is however different than throwing one down
as a single. Maybe any frontside nosegrind is just sick the more i think about it. Seen some bonky ones that give me a half chub.

I like when people fs nosegrind a ledge like they nosegrind transition. But I like when people balance backside nosegrinds like wenning.

Balanced is always better than snow plowed when it comes to nose grinds, but both are legit nose grind pop outs.
Are you a kook? If you would say this, the answer is “YES”

Are you perhaps referring to the one he did down that long skinny hubba? Can't remember which part it was in, he kind of had to pop out of that one. But yeah, Colt could do straight balanced nosegrinds on rails and shit too, that guy definitely had it figured out. Chris Roberts too.
I like both styles for different reasons. I think the balanced version is the more refined, classier version. The snowplow nosegrind bash in and out is fun to watch, definitely more aggressive. It's raw, almost violent, and looks so cool, especially when people get that sort of trampoline effect off of the ledge/coping. I don't know which is more "legit", although the balanced version seems more difficult.

The one Colt does at the beginning of his Circa part down that long square rail is burned into my brain. So perfect.

i think equal for sure. there are certain ledges that simply won't fs nosegrind the balanced way. that real rough shit. the only way your gonna grind is lean all the way into it and get your nose on there. i have never done the balanced way, always the nosebluntish way, just the way they work naturally for me. but I'm sure there are many who find the opposite. both are cool. i voted fred gall.

I'll usually say the balanced version of whatever is gonna be better, but if you can make Knox's version look that good, go for it.
