DISTANT RUMOURS....that shit is nuts dude. I have no idea how people draw so fast.

Awesome stuff in here. I honestly have never checked this thread and some really good stuff in here. Ironically I started painting again like a month ago. I was never great and only used acrylics but I found it always fun to do but just am super slow. This is my excuse for a odd gold fish. I hope to finish it soon.

^^Thanks dude. I want to do a couple more passes on this and call it a day with it. It's getting to that point where I am just ruining it more by painting it. I already want to move on to the next thing. I haven't painted in a while but I am reminded why I hate acrylics just cause they dry so fast. I am going to just jump into oils next even though I've never painted with it before.

trying to motivate myself as i've been in somewhat of an artists' slump over the last year or so; figured i'd post a bunch of paintings i've done over the last 5 years.

The black/white ones are either oil or acrylic on large canvas; the red ones are oil on paper; the last on is a magazine cover i did.

You probably already know of him, but if you don't you should look up Luc Tuymans. I can see you like dudes like Gerhard Richter, but when you're paint opacity gets thinner on some of those paintings it it makes me think a little of Tuymans.

yeah the most recent stuff i'm trying is more influenced by Tymans.... where as my older stuff, apart from obvious outside influences like film/photographhy, was influenced heavily by Richter and Gottfried Helnwein.

I take photos and sometimes paint hand-lettered signs. I can only post this one for some reason but I've got shit on http://www.yaknar.tumblr.com
There's this dude Colt Bowden who is a killer sign painter and is a ripper too.

Nice stuff Twist, I like that you've got a sense of humor in your work one time but keep it serious the other. Only crit I have is that the shoelaces would pop more if you added some shading to them.

Also, I made a stand for the sculpture I made out of wood and a t nut so the threaded rod can be inserted.

thanks

there's some texture in the shoe lace that got lost through compression and text message and instagram... but i was never too happy with them anyway.

Looking through this Bea has some amazing stuff as does Distant Rumours. I'm going to have to keep digging through this thread, seems like there's some awesome stuff.

Here are a couple of things I did recently. One is a page from a zine I contributed to which is collage/pen. And another is a piece I did on cardboard with pen.

Thanks!! I appreciate that! No, I'd never seen his stuff before. But I checked it out and it looks pretty rad. He's perfectly captured that limp/lifeless kinda feel in his characters.
