I just spent the past 4 hours introducing myself to the world of YouTube professionals, and it feels like I'm watching the group of kids who are in religion class/ Sunday school that think they're bad ass because they smoked a cigarette at an upstate religious retreat. They won't tell you that they asked for god's forgiveness for their smoke break during confessionals though, because they have an image to uphold....
I'm not down for pretentious cool guy shit or anything, but I'm sure it's not hard to be the coolest guy in the room when the only two hot spots in your town are mega churches and Wal Mart. I kinda feel like Andy Schrock has the demeanor of an acne ridden pre teen doofus, which is crazy because that man has a wife and child.
This has to be some sort of experiment that shows just how cringey the isolation of Nowhere USA can be, and it's a living testament to how detrimental it can be to the development of one's personality. I'm sure the feeling would be reciprocated if they analyzed me from afar though, like I'm sure Josh Katz would look at me and think I'm a scumbag dirt bomb who will be denied entrance to the kingdom of white Jesus at death.
What I really wanna know is how big their actual marketshare is compared to something like Crailtap or Thrasher. We always hear about how things are fluctuating in Schrock's favor, but I'd love it if he came here and opened up about just how far his reach spans now. I really had no idea how big this YouTube skateboard demographic was until two hours ago, and I still haven't fully digested its magnitude...
