Kirchart did some jock hazing shit to him when he was 16, then kirchart was bummed when he told people about it but hardy gave 0 fucks

He’s an electrician now, and travels for different jobs and skates parks when his knees don’t hurt.

Big time respect for James hardy, he was/is an amazing skateboarder, and sounded like a stand up dude.
The way he moved on from skateboarder was admirable, still skating, but focusing on real life and taking nothing for granted.

I will never be able to look at heath the same, James had nothing to gain by telling that story.

not only was that jock/predator shit, and coming up to him and attempting to intimidate him afterwards.
FUCK HEATH (i was a huge heath fan before this, and I still respect his skateboarding)

Really crazy hearing about his debt stacking up and all his medical problems. Always makes me wonder why more American pros don't look into moving to Canada. Crazy to think how many careers have ended cause guys couldn't afford injuries.

Canada has public health care, but its almost impossible to get knee surgery or any sort of surgery that is "unnecessary". They'll push you to do anything else. You have to lie about your pain or somehow convince them you can't work.
If i was american with health insurance, I would have had re constructive knee surgery 15 years ago, and a hip replacement 4 years ago.
both systems have their pros and cons.

Any person whose income depends on their ability to perform athletically goes to the states for knee surgery or similar procedures.

Plus, if you are out of country for over 6 months a year your healthcare will lapse. Not good for a place where most major cities are pretty unreliable for skating 4 months a year. Only major city that is somewhat reliable for winter is Van.

May be jockish to haze young dudes, but it doesn’t mean that Heath should be vilified. I take it more as a funny story not some predatory bullshit. Seems like hardy is mostly over it to - just likes to tell the story as he has the right to do
