Meow or Hoopla for 6 year old?
« on: October 13, 2017, 09:34:14 AM »
Are these brands near the same quality? I'm leaning towards the 7.5 Alana Smith complete. I like the idea of supporting a female operated business if the build class is equal to the competition.
Any feedback is welcomed as I know nothing about manufacturers.

That's sexist and to a 6 year old there is no difference.

For a 6 year old, both will be fine and the quality will not be noticable to them. Hoopla is out of the Powell factory. Meow is PS Stix. Personally like PS Stix the most out of all wood shops.

Probably best to let the 6 year old pick the graphic they want. That's part of the fun!

Didn't know hoopla completes were so cheap. Get your 6 year old one of those for sure.

hoopla complete seems like a great start for a young future ripper. everything can be replaced/upgraded as needed. congrats on getting a new one on board.

No, I would use Skate Warehouse to build the Meow board if I go that route.

I saw a kid at the park today with a Braille deck,or at least a shit stack of Braille stickers, don't go that route. 6 year old street cred is important, I see alot of Meow boards out there though,I think kids dig their graphics a lil' more

Damn I left my bubbler at my parents house

Let the kid decide on the graphic and its more likely they will want to use it. Just dont get a Revive deck

You can still find minis out there. I got my kid a anti hero 7.1, thunder 143s, 52 spit soft d's and the slowest shop bearings. Star Wars grip was also essential. We put it all together and he's hyped on board maintenance, knows what bushings are, etc. But he's 3, and right now just wants to wrench on it and put on stickers. More in to his bike. Not forcing his hand.

I guess my point is putting together a custom complete they picked out is a good experience.
