I actually do shoot video with a dslr, I used a VX to shoot 5 videos over 12 years and needed to do something different. So, I use a canon 7D, 8mm sigma circular fish and the Canon L 24-105. Over time I've gotten good at pan and scan style of filming. It's not easy, but once the lens mechanism breaks in the process is pretty smooth. It's not as easy as a Panasonic or a Sony, but works for me.
Nothing will ever have the look and feel of a VX1000 with a MK1, but after a decade of doing the same thing, I wanted to learn skills with a camera that has better real world applications. I still will use a VX to help friends on their own projects, but I'm all HD for my projects.
