Nollieing into slides makes their coolness factor invert- a lipslide is cooler than a boardslide when you ollie in, but when you nollie in, its the opposite. A tailslide is cooler than a noseslide, but when you nollie in, its the opposite, blunt/noseblunt works the same way. I almost want to say same thing goes with smiths and willies, but even nollieing into a willie can't save it.

you just blew the shit out of my mind
yeah but ... your honor, I'd like to bring nollie backside lipslides to the stand

Impish sausage is definitely gonna blow up as a euphemism this year

Bs crooked grinds can be cool. Bs crooked grind reverts cannot.
[close]

you mean fs 180 out or bs 180 out? if it's the frontside version then i agree but the backside one looks sick
[close]

fs. the one that inadvertently happens if you don't know how to get out of a crooks.
[close]
That's a crook to fakie, not a crook revert. People constantly use the word revert incorrectly. Revert means you go the direction out as if you were going to forward, but then keep going all the way around. So all b/s crook reverts have a b/s 180 out.

Well I'll be damned. Crooks to fakie then.

I also mostly agree with your learned opinion on blunts, noseblunts, boardslides, lipslides and nollies. Have to say Nollie bs boardslide is not much prettier than nollie front lip, though. Might actually be uglier, esp to fakie.

i like seeing regular varial heelflips,
but i don't really dig regular inward
heelflips. they only are acceptable
when they're executed nollie/ fakie.

Switch/Nollie varial heels have always struck me as kind of bullshitty.  As you said, regular ones are cool, and Matt Beach and Rodrigo made me love fakie ones in the Firm video.  Modern era Reynolds solidified said love.

Jason Dill Mosaic La High line... Best Fakie V heel ever done

Agreed! the reason i learned that trick.

bs 360s with too much one-foot action are gross
5-0s look way better with the tail all the way down 95% of the time
50-50s with the staggered trucks are also gross
What?

Dad you're embarrassing me

On 5-0s and fifty’s are you talking ledges or tranny? Frontside or backside? I agree with you about 5-0s if it’s on tranny, on ledges I think they look better manualled. I think fifty fifty’s should be straight with trucks on top for ledges and fs transition. Bs transition pretty much everyone does them staggered so you’re on your back heel. And how the hell do you balance a 5050 ona round rail if you don’t stagger it?

Edit: bs 5-0s on tranny only look good to fakie imo, and all fs grinds on tranny need the back truck up on the deck!

5-0 on ledges definitely look and feel better straight and balanced to me, plus it's super fun to see what kind of pop you can get out of them that way. sitting down with all your weight over the tail scraping throughout the whole trick looks so gross it barely even 'counts' (ha ! funny concept), to me.

also I think nollie lips and tails can look super rad, they have a wilder aspect that normal lips and tails don't have. but yeah I guess it depends on what you're doing them on. the lower the ledge, the weaker the aesthetics. I also like doing nollie smiths and nollie 5-0's but I am well aware of how gross they may be (although I do like nollie b/s 5-0, that one can look powerful).

Nollie frontside 5-0s are the fakie bigspin flip of ledge tricks.

Back 180 5050s are usually sick
Front 180 5050s are usually not sick

Same with
Back tail back 360 and front tail front 360
Back smith bigspins and front smith bigspins
Back 180 nose manuals and front 180 nose manuals

Or maybe I just prefer backside to frontside

Also, the longer you lipslide a ledge, the worse it is

On ledges yes, but I love the look of a good nollie front 5-0 on handrails.

i don't really give two shits about your fat switch fs heelflip if there isn't footage of you also doing it regular.

i can switch fs heelflip over a bench but i cant regular fs heel to save my life.

I have landed and/or come close to landing many flip tricks in my life.  Regular frontside heel is the only basic-ish flip trick I can’t even conceive of doing.  Like even if I close my eyes and try to imagine being super powered and doing a perfect one, I still fuck it up in my dreams.

Jamie Thomas filmed 5-0's both ways on the same handrail specifically to address this question. So take a look

Which is better? Without the tail scrape or with the tail scrape (skip to 4:55)

The funny thing about this thread is that the uncool tricks people are mentioning totally remind me of Van Wastell. That dude really was a style king. He fully made a career out of doing tricks like a lot of the ones mentioned in this thread that are super gross on paper and making them look amazing.
